It's probably bad news as its falsifying a federal document or something.

As far as what can happen probably worst case is that something happens where they go to find you and its some other random person and it goes bad and someone gets hurt. You would likely get sued on top of the other issues in that case.

Wait until you get your paperwork sorted.

Did you already change your address with the DMV... If so, my guess the check may come back with an error.

No I did not. I might be finally buying a house and that force me to move again. I just want to make sure I'm not gonna have the police waiting for me when I go pick it up. Maybe I should change my address and then give them the new address before my pick up date

Sounds like a good idea to me. Not sure if it will cause any stop in the DROS process.

              Good luck.

Probably wasn't a great idea. I don't know how your FFL will handle things when you bring in the new address. The 4473 shouldn't be much of a problem, just line out what you wrote and provide a government-issued document with your name and new address. The DROS, however, might be because the address is not a correctable item after the fact. Ask the FFL.

BTW, for the many people on here that don't seem to care about notifying the DMV of their new address:

VC 14600(A) $214 Failure to notify DMV of address change within 10 days
Note: The fine may be reduced with valid proof of correction.

I don't think anything is going to happen, how would they even know you moved? And I don't think they are going to arrest you for changing your address, i'm assuming the DOJ is more concerned with finding people with warrants/felonies on their record.

Oh and FYI... you can now do change of address on the internet... takes about 2 mins.

Do they send you a new license with the new address on it?

You can print out the change, gun stores accept it.

I updated mine late last year, and the DMV website did not give an option for printing out the change...only a confirmation page indicating that it had been changed (which did not show the new address).

They won't send you an updated copy unless you specifically submit a request for it, along with a check (for $19 IIRC). It will take them approx. 60 days to get around to sending it to you though.

My FFl did this to me before Christmas. He entered my old address. We did not notice it, until I picked up the gun. I assume nothing happen to him and I know I got the gun. DVM does have my new address.
