    Firearm Stolen, Firearm Recovered. Advice?

So awhile back I posted a thread about my firearm being stolen from my car aong with my wallet.

Last week I got a call from a Detective with the LA County Sheriffs Dept stating that my firearm has been recovered and they had someone in custody. They didn't leave a number and never called back so I called them today. Turns out the detective works for the gang unit in Compton

The detective is out until Sunday but in the meantime it sounds like the suspect is more than likely a gang member. I don't know if this guy was the one who stole my gun but if it is he also has my license and home address. There is a chance some other small time crook took my gun and sold it to this guy or someone else also.

The detective wants a statement presumably for his case against the gang member. What would you guys do? Press charges? Fear for my life? The gun was a little NAA mini revolver in 22lr. I have a lot bigger guns at home to protect myself with but I also have a wife and daughter to worry about.

Tell him you will give him a statement if he gives you one saying he will give your gun back!

Make a statement, press charges, and get your gun back. You bought it, you paid for it, its your property.

Did you file a police report when the NAA was stolen? If so, get a copy ... there's your statement. Get your gun back. Good luck.

Got the police report. Not to worried about getting my gun back as it has not become an issue yet. More concerned with repercussions dealing with gang members from Compton

Tell them you will be happy to give a statement if they issue a CCW because you are worried about repercussions. You never know, it might work.

Is this realistic in Los Angeles county to apply for ccw? Long Beach and Compton border each other btw.

Give the detective what he wants. I don't think you will have the chance to press charges, or be involved in the trial in any way.

This is a good idea. Take it to your PD and try to get a CCW. You now have a very good reason. And did I mention You carry large sums of cash and go to work at all hours

When I had one stolen from my truck. The Tulare PD gave it back to me right away. Unfortunately I had to give it to my homeowners insurance company that covered it.

When I was living in Long Beach I made the mistake of taking a shortcut home from work and went through Compton. Ask for the CCW...
