When do you think the runs on ammo will start again?

I will. It's just plain stupid and causes problems where there are none. Witness the idiocy of several years ago when Obama was elected. So many people were hoarding ammunition, primers, powder, and bullets that nothing was available for many months.

Nothing pleases me more than to see the stupid a**holes who were hoarding all the components and ammunition try to dump it at a loss. Those idiots made it very difficult for the rational among us to enjoy shooting as we had in the past. A pox on all of them.

Unfortunately, I can not store large amounts of ammo safely (apartment). My usual place was out of 12 ga. this week and i wanted to hit the skeet range.

I'm lucky that there are 6 gun shops in my immediate area.

Moral of the story: If your primary source is out...shop around.

I think we are talking about two different things. I meant by stocking up as to grab some when you have a chance......not buy everything off of the shelf because it's there. If I go into Wal Mart, which is maybe once a month, I grab a box or two of .223. I also buy a little here and there online and next thing I know I have a nice sized supply of ammo.

Walmart here in Placerville has a lot of ammo cheap the cheapest place in Sacramento area is river city gun exgange

When no ammo is available, make your own. I don't worry about shortages and scares. I got thousands of rounds available, and I only pay less then half of factory junk ammo. Only factory ammo I ever buy is personal defense. Thats a topic for a different discussion though.

I noticed the Walmart in Antelope Ca has been running short on 223 as well. The store shooters warehouse near me has stock all the time and right now they are boxes of 20 for 5.99

I went to the Walmart off Greenback & Hazel on Friday and it was picked clean of 223 and there wasn't a whole lot of 9mm either

People also just got Christmas money and gift cards as well. I know if I got a gift card to Wal Mart it would go to ammo.

You guy's should keep an eye out in the for sale sections.....I recently sold a few boxes of 45acp 250 count for $75.......two boxes of 30-06 for $20. eight boxes winchester white box 5.56 for $6 each and just picked up 700 bullets, 500 pcs brass, die set for 243 for a trade.

I think its still too early to call. Maybe closer to the election if it looks like Obama is gonna win, then I think people will start hoarding again, but if the GOP's candidate has a huge lead things might be different.

I went into Walmart after Christmas and they were out of .223 but the guy said they had just busy because of the holidays and would get more in soon.

Plus, there was a huge increase in gun sales this holiday season, so there ya go.

Went into my local walmart today, they had some 40 I was looking for along with other ammo. But no one was working who had a key to open the ammo cabinet.😡!! Last time I go there. Going to support my local gun shop like I should anyway from now on. And yes seems like ammo stock has been short for about a month now. Hope its just because of the holidays.
