When do you think the runs on ammo will start again?

I was just at walmart and saw a couple guys go in asking for shotgun and 223 ammo. They went home empty handed and the guy behind the counter said "get used to it". After they left, we talked a while and he said they restocked the shelf 2-3 times a day and it kept going empty. He said it was that way for several weeks.

I don't think i can take that isolated incident and make a conclusion, but it does get me thinking.

When do you all think the ammo runs will start again?

Maybe i should buy more 223...

Kinda sounds like you answered your own question there. I think it is starting already. Enough have posted about it on these boards. As long as it is a contested race, I think we will see it again. However, less military purchasing will relieve the pressure.

Part of it might be the holiday season. For us, Family Time = Shooting and in the last couple weeks I've been to walmart 3 times for ammo.

I think there will be an ammo run in 2012. Stock up while you can! That includes reloading supplies!!!

American Eagle AE223H sells out immediately up here at Walmart. The price is about $315 per thousand with no wait and shipping. There will be another run.

I bought 300 rounds of PMC 55gr 223 for $104 shipped and 250 rounds of Winchester Ranger 45 230 for $150. Can't afford a whole case but I will buy what I can when I have money.

Ammo will only go up, and no you will not get one person on this board to tell you not to stock up

Also check joeboboutfitters.com, free shipping for orders over $90 helps with smaller ammo purchases.

Hoarders are what cause the problems and create the shortages then in return they are the ones who cry the most..........

Was at Turner's and Bass Pro earlier today and shelves were pretty stocked. I was also at Walmart a couple days ago and they too had plenty on the shelves. My opinion is that it was likely an isolated incident. At the sametime I know it won't take much for the ammo hoarding to pick up again come election time.

I go with the theory posted earlier about Holidays and more people shooting.
This goes in hand with the reports of crowded shooting ranges recently.

I'm thinking in 2 weeks, you'll have all the ammo you want in stock. (barring the impending zombie apocalypse and/or upcoming presidential election)
