So i was talking to my wives cousin who is a LAPD officer, i asked him if he was trained or told how to treat a person with a legal AK or AR. He said his superior told him just to tear each individual like a "GUN NUT"...he said that his boss told him that just cuz they are california compliant that we "dont deserve to own or use them" that only " law inforcement had the right to even use these weapons"...

if it were any other pd there would be outrage but LA is kinda the exception since they still have memories of the Hollywood shootout and the enviorment they operate in you can understand their attitudeComment

NO.
I recall very clearly that LAPD made a beeline for B&B guns in North Hollywood, a firearms dealer than sold guns and ARs to civilians. They outfitted the LAPD with a lot of ARs, ammo, and loaded magazines.
Whether it made a difference in the shootout, I don't know. But they were there for the LAPD when the LAPD was outgunned.
Later on, the city of Los Angeles then made it difficult for them to continue doing business in the city. They closed.
So if there are people shooting at my local PD, I shouldn't intervene because I really shouldn't have guns in the first place?
It's that specific attitude of "For me, not for thee" that is so annoying.
Many firearms owners have higher level training and are more proficient with their firearms of choice than many line officers.
I have memories of the NH shootout. It showed me that criminals can be armed and armored with dangerous weapons. They did not get the guns or ammo through legal means.
There were over 250 sworn officers that responded to 2 (TWO!) criminals.
The cops carry guns to protect THEMSELVES while doing their job. Not to protect you.
Protecting you is their job.
Something that some sworn officers either choose not to do or fail to do.
I think that he would change his tune if he was a civilian."You will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it."
John Quincy Adams
"You will never know how little my generation has traded away our freedoms and rights for. I'm sorry and ashamed for what we've left to the following generations."

I didn't know about B&B going out of businessComment

As a former retail manager at B&B, I can say B&B has been closed for years now, too bad, they had some quirky rules (like not giving prices over the phone) but it was a very well-stocked store with many items priced below the competition. And, many on the staff were quite knowledgeable. During the "North Hollywood Shootout" the LAPD did grab-up several AR15s and ammo, but it is my understanding they arrived after the action was over. Also, a lot of people don't know this, but during "Rodney King Riots" of 1992, the National Guard was called in but they had no ammo because it was in storage located in Northern California. Bob Kahn (one of the Bs in B&B) called city officals and offered up enough 223 ammo to get them going---and they REFUSED---choosing instead to wait a couple of additional days for their ammo to be trucked down here. We had more than 20,000 rounds of 223 sitting in our warehouse at the time. All major gunstores have pretty much moved out of L.A. due to many many hoops to jump thru imposed by the City of L.A.Comment

I have a good LAPD friend, who gave me his Marina Corp sling when I got my AR. I believe most rank and file are ok with civilians owning these types of rifles yet, there are plenty of "old guard" higher ranking officers that think its "us vs them" As in all professions, their are many different opinions etc. These jerks who walk around with AR's slung over their shoulders, bad attitudes, and a camera in their hands are not helping our cause. And yes, many Cops are not "gun guys" and my friends partner had never even fired a .223 .308 etc So yes, older Cops tend to be alarmed about these type of weapons in civilian hands, and may never change their minds despite the legality of it all.Quod sumus hoc eritisComment

OMG LMFAO!How about more appropriate thread titles in the future Calgunners, instead of something resembling a high school girl's tweet. Just something mildly indicative of the content. OMG (;P)
We can see the illiterate future generation steamrolling towards us on the internet highway........................"I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness; I love only that which they defend.

so using acronyms is considered illiterate?
does it really matter? does it make it difficult for you to understand what they are saying?
heck, half the people on this forum can't even embed a youtube video properly... I highly doubt they have the capacity to understand "Oh My God" - I mean.... it's 3 full words! just shorten to "OMG" and we're all set...
better yet, just draw pictures and post that.you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.Comment
