    9mm same as 9mm Luger?

I was at Wally World today and went to check out the ammo prices for my new 9mm Ruger. All I found was 9mm Luger and was wondering if that is the same or if I can use it in my P89? Thanks in advance.

      9x19

9mm luger is also called 9x19 or 9mm parabellum. The stuff from Wallyworld is what you want for you Ruger. There is also a 9mm Markarov which is 9x18 and 9mm Browning which is .380acp.
You do not have to be crazy to hang out with me. I'll train you!

I love when people have the gall to ask simple (newbish if I dare say ) questions like this because even though I knew the short answer I did not know...

That is very true and asking hurt nobody!

As a general rule when you buy from a big box store or many other LGS, 9mm= current 9mm!

That is not a hard fact, and some LGS have other 9mm types.
If you are not familar, just ask an employee. Though 9mm Kurts will be labled as 380acp, and 9mm mak will usualy be in a different section as well(in most stores). Better safe than sorry!

                  Wiki can be your friend.

BTW - 9mm Kurz I've heard of, but 9mm Browning - from Wiki - should be 9mm Browning short.... And same round I've heard called 9mm short...

Guys don't forget about 9mm Largo and 9mm Glisenti! LOL

But yes, 9mmx19 Parabellum IS "THE" 9mm pistol cartridge.

9 x19 is also known as 9mm NATO.

                        Yes and no.

The common "9mm" fired by Glock, Springfield, HiPoint is 9x19, 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9mm NATO, 9mm "Para"....

When you go to WalMart or Turners and ask for "9mm", that is what you are likely to get.

But there are no less than 61 different chamberings for a "nominal 9mm" round if you include pistol, revolver, and rifle variants including the varous .38/.357/.380 variants.

                          I thought it was 57 variants... (J/K Cokebottle.. )

But, yes, I thought the whole .380, 9mm, .357 thing outlandish when I first started reading about various rounds... The .357/.38 is the dumbest thing....

Oh, I didn't know that. And I have seen some interesting old pistols in 9mm Kurtz. Sometimes it is good to not reprimand someone for not searching and googling something themselves.
