Glock Beavertail

I read about the beavertail in the glock catalog. It is suppose to have a 1911 look to it. Aside from the look, it can help with muzzle flip and recoil. Is this true? Is it worth 25 dollars?

uhhh i guess ill take a minute out of my surfing.... a beaver tail has a purpose.... its not for "looks" even on a 1911. It is to disperse the recoil action, when the/a pistol is fired, into a greater area of your hand "webbing" area which absorbs the recoil. In turn, better target reacquisition.

Also lets you choke up more on the grip and not get bit.

As the glock is striker fired you do not have to worry about hammer bite. It will allow you to choke up higher and will help with recoil.

the beavertail is for the adjustment of the grip angle. It's used for those of us having handled 1911's too long and reflexively shoot high with the Glock grip angle.

The introduction of interchangeable backstraps was supposed to help the transition.

I just looked at images of Glocks with the beavertail. I like this one.

I have never gotten hammer bite and I rarely use 1911s so transition is not required. I made up my mind not to get one. Thanks.

Good choice Chunkx. For me putting a beaver tail on a Glock is like putting a whale tail on a 57 Chevy. No matter how it improves it, It just doesnt belong there. I have shot lots of Glocks in all there calibers and never had a problem with out of control recoil.

Have you checked out the Grip Force backstrap: http://gripforceproducts.com/ Really improved the angle of the grip for me and let me get a slighty higher grip. I switch between shooting my Glocks and M&Ps, I prefer the M&P's angle and the Grip Force helps the Glocks get a closer to that angle.

I used it, didn't really notice any difference and I shoot the same either way. Grip was also fine for me either way.

If anyone wants one, I'll sell mine cheap (black, for Gen 1-3 models).

I actually just wanted it if it helped reduce recoil or muzzle flip, but it seems its just for people with big hands.
