no sign... crooks shouldn't need warning that their lifestyle is hazardous.

what other sorts of business' were hit?

in any case, bruce seems to have hit upon my stance. Keep the gun on you, but remember that's for stopping a life threatening situation, not just some dirtbag ultra-aggressively panhandling.

It describes semi public property. "Semi Public Places Restrictions

Carrying a loaded concealed firearm is prohibited in areas open to the public, even if they are on private property."
"But in Overturf, the court held that the common areas of an apartment complex was a public place and thus Mr. Overturf couldn't carry a loaded firearm even though Mr. Overturf was the landlord of the apartment complex."
      And
"As such, the current jurisprudence in California is that if the public can come unmolested or unchallenged into an area, you can not conceal or openly carry a loaded firearm in that area unless you have a specific and immediate need to defend life or property."

By that definition the OP can't carry concealed? 99% of Businesses are open to the public where people can just walk in.

Very good points about not having a sign. Wont do it. Agreed about getting them out of the store as quick as possible without confrontation. A confrontation was never our plan. Only protecting ourselves. I worked at a U-Haul center in Reno years ago where robbers came in as the crew was closing up. They killed and decapitated the entire crew.

Im just looking to protect myself...not be a hero.

The businesses here that were robbed were just random businesses on and off Main St.

I will look up the cites for it, but there is nothing disallowing a employee or business owner to carry concealed on their premises at all. All you have to do is go to a local gun store, or shooting range, or heck, check out convenience stores that are family owned, the majority of those folks are all carrying concealed and a good portion of them dont have CCW's. I did it for years in Sacramento at the family bingo halls, and the gun room as well.

Thanks Storm, it's just that the link lorax3 had posted had case laws that gave restrictions to pc12026.

The MO is cash, and since our break in we upgraded to dvr surveillance. The suspect wears a black hoodie so surveillance is screwed.

My thought is when i see this sh**tbag come in...what do I do legally?
You can always ask him to leave. If he refuses then it's trespassing, call LEO. Most every store I've been in has a "Right to Refuse Service to Anyone" (or similar) sign posted somewhere. Read up on the laws for self-defense w/a firearm. See link for starters (page 27). Talk to a lawyer. Hopefully nothing happens.

                ATTENTION CRIMINALS

THE EMPLOYEES OF THIS STORE ARE ARMED.
THEY HAVE BEEN EDUCATED ON HOW TO USE THESE FIREARMS TO DEFEND THEMSELVES

THE STORE NEXT TO US IS FILLED WITH ANTI-GUN LIBERALS.

Store owners and employees authorized by the owner are allowed to carry openly or concealed within the business.

If can carry at work, do so. Too many people are ready to kill you for the paper in your register.

I would not post that sign. Unless you have a LTC, it means that you either carry the guns home each night (perfect to follow you and rob you of them), or you leave them in the store at night (making store more attractive target). ETA: forgot to mention, go thru my Crime Avoidance and Self-Defense Advice linked in my sig line, esp the linked article and video re Lance Thomas.

Also, civil liability is always a concern -- at least until we get the NRA's Model Castle Doctrine law passed in CA -- probably won't happen for at lest 10 yrs after getting Shall Issue (~2014).

                          *****

CA has a good "traditional" Castle Doctrine (for inside your home), but that does NOTHING for when you're outside your home, in your car, etc. Plus, it does NOT bar civil litigation by BG or his survivors against you -- even if you are NOT convicted, or even charged, criminally!

More info on the NRA's Model Castle Doctrine law here:
Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the "lobbying" arm of the National Rifle Association of America. ILA is responsible for preserving the right of all law-abiding individuals in the legislative, political, and legal arenas, to purchase, possess and use firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Here's a map showing the, now, 30 states that have passed the NRA's Model Castle Doctrine law (IIRC, VA has most of it via case law, rather than statute/code):

My grandfather has owned his own business for 40 years and has been carrying concealed on his property for the same amount of time. It's saved his bacon a few times for sure. LEO that come in know he is carrying and have never said anything about it other than ask to see the gun (it's an old Colt 1911 that he carried in the Korean war so it's got some history).

I decided to carry at work, but all my pistols are too big to conceal. Last week I Dros'd a .38 snubnose revolver. Until i get it I'll just keep something handy.

                                Thanks for the advice everyone.
