Don't let the name fool you... -
Some hood rats stolen rentals guns Friday and they came back to "rent" some more guns. They gave me a bad feeling like driving in Oakland bad. When they left, one of the clerks told me. That's when the police came. Was hard to tell what was going on since it got really busy there.

I feel it is only right to say that I was eagerly awaiting the opening of the Range and the facility in general for months!
But to be 100% honest I was disappointed for various reason. However, Safety was my primary concern. The feeling I got when I was there (just my impression) was the opening may have been rushed to offset the investment. I know many things have to be taken into account when opening a new facility, however the first 8-30 seconds of a customers experience are critical.
When we left I even made a comment to the individual I was with about their rental procedure. Reading that there was already an incident similar to my hypothetical situation concerns me. I will defiantly not be taking the family there to shoot. Nor will I be taking my typical range equipment and gear until the growing pains have all been worked out.
For what it is worth, my visit was the week of the 9th.
I will be heading to LG's in the area to pick up a few items this week, maybe I will stop by shoot a few boxes while in the area. As long as it is well lit (daylight).
No disrespect to the owners or staff, I know a venture like this is full of emotion. Please try and take in any and all comments as a positive. After all we are all looking to enjoy our hobby and passion.
I look forward to the success of the shooting range and HOPE you have no further issues.Comment

I find your post completely opaque. We read that you found something not to your liking but have no idea what it was.
What was your Safety concern? What was your first impression? What didn't you like about the rental procedure? What was your hypothetical situation? What changes do you need to see to take your family shooting there? Why do you want to be there only in daylight?
How can anyone take your vague, dark implications as positive?
Please explain what the heck you're talking about.Better Way to Search CalGuns - https://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=0...78:pzxbzjzh1zk

The typo makes this sound like you are planning a rebellion.
Back to the topic at hand:
It doesn't surprise me that some of the local gutter trash attempted to steal stuff. From my experience with the staff, it also doesn't surprise me that it got handled quickly and quietly.
I also completely agree with rushing to open. Currently, their selection of firearms for sale as well as ammo/accessories are quite limited and not displayed well. But, I see that as a plus. From where I live, it's really convenient to hop in my car, drive five minutes and start shooting. If they are stocking up with more goodies, it's going to be just as convenient for me to start buying more stuff. The place has already become dangerous to my wallet, and as they settle in it's only going to get worse.
And lastly, a big shout out to Kenny whom helped me shoot my glock better by explaining his experience of going from a wheel gun (which is all I knew prior) to a semi-auto.Comment

But to be fair and support my previous post I will give a few examples. This is only my impression and gut feeling, I could have been overly critical that day.
Location & Safety:
Not the best area, has a lot of dark parking lots surrounding it. It is tucked back off a main street. The area has it's fair share of unfavorable activity, especially at night and on the weekends.
Staff:
Upon our arrival the staff member was very friendly. However, in my opinion, showing a potential new customer a firearm without cycling the slide and confirming a clear camber is a concern of mine, especially if you rent!
Comments that could be taken as sexist should at least be reserved for repeat customers, "after" you get to know them. Good thing my woman is use to them and blows them off.
The staff did not appear confident on the responses given to questions related to pricing and policies, including gun rental. When we left, I even made a comment to the company I was with " The fact that they are renting firearms, selling ammunition and not extremely clear on the policy really bothers me. What's to stop someone from walking out with the rentals and worse, a loaded rental?"
In addition, a bit of miss information given about firearms and some stereo typing, but that could be the sales persons personal opinion.
The facility:
In general was very bland and empty. Nothing popped and made it memorable or enticing to come back. Have you ever walked into one of those stereo stores were they buy knock off equipment? Kind of what you see is what you get, if we have it and you want it,... better get it now because they may never get it again... ,...that kind of feel.
The fit and finish of the facility was not what I am use to for a new tenant improvement. But then again, how many people critique workmanship such as CMU course work, scratches in the showcase glass, blemishes in trim, pattern changes in the wall finishes, runs or roller marks in the paint etc.
What would be nice to see or know
Fill some of the dead space with something. Marketing material or Promotional items from the manufactures, anything to take advantage the sf you have and make it draw customers in.
Do you have a vending machine? If so, make it known or visible, don't have your customers walking or driving to AM/PM or the 76 to get a drink or quick snack especially if you will be staying open till 10 or later.
Increased lighting off the building to cover the parking lot.
Additional signs drawing attention to the surveillance ( I assume you have 360* coverage of the building for an adequate distance).
Assure barriers & bollards are sufficient.
Oh and just a thought, you may consider taking the photo with the girls cheeks off your Facebook page. Even though the guys may love it, I can assure you it lost you 2 female customers I know, more will follow as they talk.
Guys, in case you missed it, this one
By the way, is that even at this location? I may have been distracted, butt the lanes look totally different.
Will I go back and see how the business improves, defiantly. But either with someone different/new and get their feedback as well, or by myself (no mixed company that's for sure)
There is my $.02 and just like after taxes, it is gone.Last edited by Hallz; 07-15-2012, 11:38 PM.Comment

No rebellion,
Dyslexia, 30+ years of pore spelling and being opinionated,......then give me a smartphone and look out!
When the Gun Range was becoming public, the first thing many people commented on was the location and surrounding elements. Other concerns was the possibility of negative exposure of ANY kind relating to "Guns"
I hope that more respectable business in the area (like this) can help improve the stigma associated with that section of Watt ave. Another legitimate business operating past 6pm should only do good things (I hope).
As long as the "local gutter trash" can be kept at bay and people shoot with the sights at 12 o'clock, not 3,5,8 or 9. I sure hope people don't start taking advantage of the leniency for rapid fire and taking video to act cool or hard. I understand why rapid fire is not permitted at most ranges.Last edited by Hallz; 07-15-2012, 10:58 PM.Comment

dropped by the gun range this morning and can say with certainty that the wait was well worth it. Spent about an hour on the range and thoroughly enjoyed my time (had a section to myself the whole session). Can't express enough how great it is to finally have a range in north sac. The staff were very pleasant and spoke to the owner briefly, who appeared just as excited as we are thrilled to have them in our area. He mentioned that they'll have memberships available in next week or so after they upgrade their computer system. Looking forward to perusing their class offerings as well. Check em' out.Originally posted by GraybeardSeriously the quality of some of the posts on here has gone waaaaayyyyyy downOriginally posted by cannonYou have not been here long enough to see how low they can really go.Comment
