You do sound like an anti when you say that. I happen to know more than a handful of people who will insist that carrying any weapon indicates the same thing. Although not a personal acquaintance, Ronald Reagan said he saw “no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons.”

It is a strange situation indeed when those who insist on the universal right to bear arms will at the same time make pronouncements on which situations and in what manner this fundamental right should be exercised.

I don't think he's fighting the good fight, he's just providing a solution for that small proportion of the population that insists on legally carrying a gun after 1 January.

        Sigworthy.

Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim -- when he defends himself -- as a criminal. Bastiat

I'd rather have an immediately available tool to use to defend myself, yes. I never said it was the best solution. Most criminals are bullies and cowards by nature, if the situation warrants it then I accept the risk of bodily harm with the intent to inflect maximum damage possible, as quickly as possible.
I never said it was my preference to carry a pocket knife, living in San Luis Obispo county forces me to carry it. I would much rather have my Kimber on me.
What good would a pocket knife be in the event of an indirect threat- like an armed robbery, mass shooter, or riot? Without a firearm, you have no hope to thwart an assailant or a group of assailants. If this is so useless, why then would you argue in favor for licensed concealed carry, if such carry requires the same amount of time to present a firearm for use?
I highly doubt lifting your shirt to draw your weapon takes as long as fishing a key off your key holder/out of your pocket and unlocking the case. I also doubt that unlocking said case is as easy as drawing your weapon. Have you ever been in a firefight or other life threatening situation? If you have then you have to understand where my doubt in being able to effectively unlock the case and draw/load your weapon comes from. He shows the video in a calm setting, with key in hand. Go get your heart rate up, have the key in your pocket, have someone shooting airsoft/paintballs at you to have some adrenaline pumping and show me how long it takes.
Sure its a loophole, sure they're practicing a fundamental right. I support their right to do so, I do not personally support the method. We can agree to disagree. I'm not arguing for or against it, I'm stating my doubts about the effectiveness of it in a life or death situation. If i had my way everyone who was law abiding and chose to do so could carry however they wanted, with anything they wanted. I regard this manner of carrying the same way I regard the lbgt/whatever it is community, do your thing and I'll do mine.

It looks funny but i'd rather have it on me than inside a locked safe in a room inside my home.

Near as I can tell, the box only has to be locked in case of LEO encounter. Make I default to unlocked but lock instantly at the press of a button.

No, it must be locked all the time, except when it's legal to remove the weapon from the locked case.

The possibility of detection, arrest and prosecution is only there with a LEO encounter.

Similarly, the speed limit signs are out there all the time; they don't apply only when CHP can see you.

a combo or push button lock would be a ton quicker.

Now just put "Firearm inside" in bold letters on the outside and wait for the court case when an leo forces you to open it.

As has been pointed out by others who frequent this forum, broken locks and cases are a very good record of the violation of someone's rights.

Is there a thumbprint reader lock small enough to fit on that?

Yea losing your "concealeability" is a big tactical mistake, Id rather a locked container concealed on the person that can be unlocked in a covert manner, and the choice to draw and identify yourself as armed or remain concealed and look non threatening, the tactical options are better that way, more choices to be smart about deploying your firearm..

link to thread where this is discussed.
