If it makes any sense, I prefer to shoot rifles as they're generally more enjoyable to shoot, but prefer to own or collect handguns as they just catch my eye more. I'm weird.

rifles because every time i have the money to buy a pistol i think to my self (man thats half an ar15 or whatever) and i really cant afford the hand guns i really want.Comment

Rifles, by a very close margin.
There are some pistols I would rather have than some rifles, and there are some rifles I would definitely rather have than most pistols.In Glock We Trust.

My preferrance as far as research, picture drooling, browing, etc. is usually based on what I am in the market for. Since I'm pretty much set on rifles, that means my primary interest is in handguns right now. But once I've got my current itch scratched I'll shift focus. Shooting wise, love 'em all equally.Comment

Although I prefer the convenience of handguns, I am a much better shot when it comes to rifles. I still haven't gotten the habit of flinching sometimes.

I guess it depends on the situation.
General target shooting=rifles and shotgun
Home security=handgun, to get to the shotgun or rifle.
