Gun safe concern...

This sounds good - just use appropriate spacers so the safe doesn't damage the baseboard or the wall anywhere besides the 4 or so contact points. It won't be quite as secure but I'd say it would be appropriate and proportional to the safe's own level of security."I'm so hard, b****, I carry TWO in the chamber!"

Put it in a corner and mount to the studs.Originally posted by TeddyBallgamemaybe I'm wrong, but, if a $50.00 investment can help me a bit, i'll just have to go a day without the hookers and blow to cover it

A wink is as good as a nod, to a blind man.
Get a small safe that is easy to steal and run away with. Hide your guns elsewhere in the apartment. When the thieves break in, let them pick up and struggle with a safe that contains some heave lead blocks or something, but nothing of value. They'll take the safe and not spend time looking for handguns. For best results, rig the safe to leave a 30-foot crater in the Earth's surface upon opening it.Comment

I got the same dilemma as the OP and luckily enough, I was able to buy the same safe yesterday at Lowes. They had to order some more but I was able to just pay the sale price. I plan on just slicing the carpet enough and folding it back so that i can drill the holes. Then when I ever move, I'll just fold them back and super glue the hole thing. It will be in my closet, so who really cares what the carpet will look like anywayI was in an apt and had 3 safes bolted down. We moved and nobody said anything. 3 large square imprints on the carpets.
We slit the carpet. Just enough to lift a small patch where it would be bolted down. A little super glue after we moved fixed it.
IMO. A safe that isn't bolted down is pointless... Even a crappy locker style "safe" should be bolted down.

I saw it in another similar thread:
Make the safe bigger and incapable of moving through the door. One person suggested welding metal rods/pipes/beams to it so that tipping was impossible, and even moving it would be difficult due to its extended shape.
If I were to spend $700 on a safe I wouldn't be welding anything to it. But you could create a "cage" of sorts around the safe to accomplish the same thing. No its not bolted down but 2 guys with an appliance dolly couldn't be able to wheel it out the back door. A metal cutter would be necessary which would add to the time, require preparation, and create a whole lot of noise in the process.Comment

First of all I am in search of a good deal on a gun safe..
I would like to spend around $300-$350 for a rifle/handgun safe like this one..
My concern is that im currently renting and i would like to know if anyone
can suggest another alternative to securing the safe in my residence besides
bolting the safe into the ground. I wish to buy a house in January and would
like when I move out of my current establishment not to leave anything
damaged, in this case the floor/carpet.
Thanks
Not sure if you got it or not but that's a great safe for the money. Nice thick door and decent space.Comment

I live in an apt also and built a base that bolts to the studs and bottom plate. I bolt the safe to that. Prevents tipping but given enough time and persistence a thief can get into any safe.
Or, buy an 800lbs safe. not too many thieves are set up to break into let alone move one of those. But the same is true.

Storm cases
Just a thought. I have never done this but.....is there anything out there like this that you guys can recommend?

you could get a few Storm or whatever decent brand you wish. Lock your guns up and then use a decent cable and put a bolt in your floor or secure the cable to something heavy for instance do you have a large heavy bed ?
Storm/Pelican cases are expensive but....buy once cry once...they are some of the best ever for protection on your gearComment
