ROs do have some value. If you can catch the person violating the RO (like with video or text/voice messages), it can get them arrested, etc. It builds a case and if they dont stop, eventually after a few violations, things can be upgraded to felony stalking. Judges really dont like people doing **** that the judge orders them not to do. ANd after a couple of times, they really get mad.
You need to have you act together. Document everything, however trivial you think it is.
You have keep a detailed paper trail including a police report every time something occurs... Keep a journal of everything in detail -dates, times witnesses, etc... include strange happenings in your journal..even if you cant prove who did it...I know from experience that this works and works well. DO NOT make **** up. If at any time it is proven that you falsified anything, your back to square one or worse.
Be prepared for the person going off the deep end when served because they will lose their gun rights temporarily (If they even have them) and will be pissed.
I would think twice about filing for an RO until and unless there is enough to warrant one. If you have not been calling LE and getting police reports, your chances diminish considerably of getting an RO. Its he said/she said until LE gets involved and there is some evidence.
Lastly, make absolutely sure there is no way you can be held responsible in some way or another for this persons actions. Because the other half of this problem may try for an RO as well and you know what that means.
Why do people think ROs are worthless? Probably because they are not made of Kevlar and dont stop bullets, sharp objects, etc. Plus, you cant just make an accusation to get an RO or that someone has violated an RO and get them arrested. Either LE has to catch them OR you need to provide the evidence.
I wish I knew more about your situation to give you more detailed info, but the above is accurate and it works...I can attest to it from experience.
Good luck!Any Questions about Front Sight memberships or specific information about attending, Feel Free to send me a PM!Comment

What do you feel are this persons intentions?
Once you answer that then you can make a better dicision .Originally posted by TeddyBallgamemaybe I'm wrong, but, if a $50.00 investment can help me a bit, i'll just have to go a day without the hookers and blow to cover it

I suggest also getting a Google Voice number linked to a gmail account. When set up properly, that number will forward to your new cell number without revealing it. If somehow this person gets the GV number from a mutual acquaintance, you can set it to play a "this number is no longer in service message." You can even dial out from it so that your real number doesn't show up on caller id.Comment

Unless you have called your local PD about the incidents with this person there is an unlikely chance you'll get a restraining order on them just because "you want one on them". You need documents to help you get one not just because you say they are "stalking you". Sorry but a story is needed to fully comprehend what your going through.Comment
