    Anyone else carrying tonight?

While holding down the fort and passing out candy tonight, who else is carrying? Seem like a good time for a home invasion attempt.

    M&P 45 on my hip, 870 nearby.

480 Ruger on my hip and a 50 Beowulf in reserve.

Some little monster tried to take an extra handful, so I had to back him off with the Ruger.

Just kidding guys. If you are worried about a home invasion robbery, try looking through the window or peephole and don't open the door for anyone more than three feet tall.

1900 and only one little monster so far tonight. He got two handfuls (and I have huge hands) since he was the first and all by himself. His mother was standing on the sidewalk and gave me the middle finger when I told the kid to enjoy eating all of it tonight.

Just a note-- Reeses is owned by Hershey, which is shutting down its US manufacturing and moving it all to Mexico. Including plants in California.

It hurts me, as Reeses are one of my 2 favorites, but no Hershey products for me (as in buying -- someone gifting it to me and I'll eat it). I am not against foreign made products, sold by foreign companies (Nestle is ok by me), but US flagged companies closing down their US manufacturing and moving it to Mexico or China or whatever gets my goat. Companies that want to participate in the economy should be obligated morally to fully participate including offering jobs. These companies are the real freeloaders -- they don't want pull their fair share of the economy, they just want to take and take and take without offering anything back. If no one has any work anymore, where do they think their customers will come from?

I am not opposed to Chinese made products -- sold by Chinese or non-US companies. If Kum Lee Ho Ltd wants to try and sell me some piece of crap $1 store stuff or whatever, that is fine. And if the price is right I may buy it. Not sold by US flagged and based companies. And I will pay extra for US made quality (if it is there).

When buying Halloween candy I checked to make sure it was made in the US or was a foreign company like Nestle. The Dum Dums and Mary Janes were US Made. Don't know about the Sweet Tarts but they are Nestle which is a Swiss company.

Sorry for the rant. And while I am at it, I'll answer the question (I am not in Cali in case I mention any off-roster stuff). We were not home most of the night but yes, I have a Keltec P-32 in the pocket always and while at the mall doing their Halloween thing or in our old neighborhood with the kidlet taking him around, I had a USP 40 full size and Sig 239 in my Sigtac jacket ;-) (helps even out the wait to have one on both sides)

I've NEVER had a SINGLE trick or treater come to my door. Ever.

I guess it's one od the advantages/disadvantages to living on a farm. Of course I'd probably scare the crap out of anyone who comes to my house uninvited since I constnatly carry while I am home. The other day we had a family friend of the inlaws over. He closed the door but, unkown to us at the time, it didn't latch all the way. When my wife arrived home later that day from school she stepped in quietly and slammed the door. I had fallen asleep on the floor while watching a movie with the family friend. I was awake, up off the floor, pistol in hand, and stepping over the 15 yo kid on my way to the front door (though it was being kicked in) before she could take her third step. The wife knows me so she just gave me a "relax - it's just me" look but he was looking at me like "WHOA! How'd you do that so fast?!".

On a more serious note I've heard a couple reports in the last couple years of people using their kids as bate to get into homes. There was one a couple years back where they had the kid dressed up and standing behind him. As the person open the door and moved their attention to the kids bag to give them candy the parents moved in and either hit the person over the head of shoved them inward and stepped in after them. Either way, be aware of WHO is there at all times. Scum bags are scum bags, whether they have kids or not, and if they are the same ones who would use their kids to get welfare money and spend it on drugs while their kids starve they will have no quams about using their kids as bate. Always remember that - NOTHING makes ANYONE trustworthy, especially having kids.

ETA: eguns that makes complete sense. I hate to see it go, but I'll have to stop buying Hersheys. They won't ever feel the burden, even if half the country stopped buying, since they will probably double their profits by going to Mexico but apathy is no excuse for letting your morals and standards slide.

Back in '80 or '81, my grandmother would not open the door of her SF home (right by Balboa HS) when someone was using their kids as bait. At first, they waned her to baby sit. She told them that there was a daycare center right across the street. Then, "the mother" said one of the kids needed a bathroom. Again, my 4'11" grandma refused to open the door, At that point, my grandmother said that the woman's eyes got wild and she started screaming at my grandmother to let them in. A minute later, they left. As my grandma watched them leave, she counted three adult women and 5 children. Obviously, most of them had been hiding just waiting for the door to open.
