I think it's kinda neat the younger set is interested in shooting. Thank you for teaching them.
My only respectful suggestion would be, if possible, try to find a "youth size" 22 rifle like the Chipmunk. They're designed for kids. With the "right" size rifle, you can teach proper technique, etc. As you mentioned, safety is # 1, form is a distance 2nd.
I taught all 3 of my kids (now adults) firearm safety & marksmanship with the Chipmunk. Still have it & I plan on teaching my grand kids with it.
