Just had to share this pic

This is my little 8yr old shooting one of our .22's. I just liked the pic I had to share. He likes to shoot with 2 fingers and the elbow thing don't ask me. I know we didn't have his glasses but did have plugs in the ears.. For some reason I can't get the pic any bigger

Change his stance/form. He doesnt need to learn bad habits when he upgrades to a bigger rifle.

    Otherwise, good stuff!

Now that I look at it, the length of pull for that rifle is a bit much for him haha. Where do you take him shooting?

That picture made my day, it was just a goofy little kid havin fun. And as far as those that say, "you should have corrected his style" those are the ones that need to be corrected because there is no such thing as the perfect style.
There is however a style that works for each person and it is up to them to decide which is the perfect style for them. Leave your kid alone and don't change him until he asks for guidance or decides to show you why his style is better. Then you might learn something.
That which does not kill us does not make us stronger; it makes us weaker and easy prey for the strong. Therefore, we should always be vigilant against those that seek to acquire too much strength and protective of those that become too weak.

It made my day too when I saw it. On a bigger pic it looks so much better. That was only his second time shooting that but he is dead on accurate everytime

Dude are you for real. Come back when you know what your talking about. Oh and welcome to Calguns.

OP, I commend you. I too started shooting rifles at a young age, 7, and I can't thank my father enough for it. Started with a Ruger .22 It teaches good displicine and respect.

Thank you..........Yes it is very important to me to have my kids have the proper respect and discipline. Once they have it hopefully they will never lose it. Both of them really enjoy shooting with my wife and I. My daughter 12yrs old shot my 9mm and my glock .45 while we were out it was another proud moment for me. She handled it like a pro.

LOL. Try shooting a 30-06 or shotgun without actually using the stock and tell me how well that works out for you. Dont be silly.

If his kid did try that, he would earn the lesson fast would he not?

It will change. At least that is what I tell myself about my daughter. I'm going to get her the same 10/22 (except in pink) when she is ready for it, and she is a year younger than your son.

Right now, she holds the BB gun at least in the right direction, but she supports the gun by wrapping her hand completely around the barrel. She doesn't like pulling the stock to her shoulder, and she will not let me tell her how to use the sights. She has to do it her own way.

It took her a long time to ride a bicycle too, but when she did, I couldn't get her off the bike.

I shot a 12 gauge without the stock to my shoulder when I was 9 (buckshot). gun almost hit my face, and I was flat on my back. that was the worst of it. I brushed myself off and learned the right way

He is pretty small for his age so I think I need a smaller stock for him. He does really well with it and as for now I don't want to really push the issue as the .22 doesn't kick. I just don't want to scare him away from using it. As long as safety is first for the minute he is doing great. He does hold his bb gun correct but it is also way lighter
