    Makes good sense.

Take the money you would use to buy a spotting scope, and buy a higher end scope for your rifle, mil/mil or moa/moa, good glass, reliable tracking etched reticle etc. Your going to do more with a higher end scope on your rifle, putting rounds down range, than you will with a nice spotting scope. Like I suggest, learn to watch for trace and your splash. Shoot steel that is painted white if you can. At 18x I can see an impact from a 308win at 708yds on a steel plate. The good thing about shooting swinging steel, their is no ifs ands or buts, if you hit it, it makes a noise and moves if you miss it doesnt do ****. Spotting scopes are REALLY overrated, unless you are competing stay away, buy more ammo or componets to make ammo.

    Good Luck
