Hello everyone
I'm new here, and also not even close to California. But wait, let me explain!
I'm born, raised and currently residing in Norway. As in Norway, Europe, oil, polar bears, vikings and very VERY strict gun laws. Now, the situation is as follows:
The missus (or girlfriend, if you will) and myself are going on vacation to the USA next June. We're planning a couple of days in New York first, then a flight to San Francisco, before we road trip south by Highway one in the general direction of Los Angeles, turn left and go to Vegas for a couple of nights, then back to LA to catch a Dodgers game and our return flight.
Me and my girlfriend are also sort of interested in guns (me a lot, her not so much
), and we want to try to shoot some guns while we're "over there". She says it seems like a fun idea. Me on the other hand, I start planning these things 8 months before
What we want is essentially as many rounds fired from as many different guns of as many different types of firearms as possible within, say for example, 4-5 hours. We'd like to try glock/beretta pistols, small and big revolvers (.44 for the dirty norwegian, my dad made me watch dirty harry when I was 14 or so), a shotgun or two, and a few submachine guns and hopefully also a few assault-rifle type guns. My personal wishlist contain at least a beretta 9mm, p90, steyr-aug, ak47, an m4 or m16, and if possible a heavy caliber scoped long range rifle of sorts.
Now, I've sent a few emails to a bunch of different ranges, but I honestly have no idea where they are, or even what guns I can try while I'm there, so I'm a bit in the dark. Also, does Californian gun regulation say anything about no full-auto or something like that? seems all the gun ranges have regulations to that effect in their rules. How is gun legislation in Nevada compared to California on this point?
I'd prefer to go to a gun-range and be greeted by a professional instructor who has done this sort of thing before, as we don't want to end up shooting something that shouldn't be shot at by accident. The missus would probably need instructions to find the safety, and I'd need instructions to hit anything at all
So, it boils down to one question in two parts. Would I be better off doing this in california or in nevada (depending if there is single-shot only in cal. and auto in nevada,) and in the given area, do you have any recommendations for a gun range/professional instructor that could, essentially make this happen for us.
hey, if _you_ are an instructor associated with a gun range and can offer the services we're after, all for the better
