I've temporarily misplaced a few.

There was the shotgun that I couldn't find for months. Eventually I found it propped against the wall behind a floor-length curtain... evidently I'd been tidying up and stuck it there "for the moment" and then got occupied with other concerns and forgot about it. That was sure a relief.

Then there was the cheap .22 handgun I couldn't find for weeks. I looked everywhere I thought it could be. Nada. Then, one day going to get papers out of the "nice gun" safe, there it was! I don't remember putting it there, but it must have been when I was moving the other safes. We only keep the "nice guns" and important papers in there, so I never thought to look there for it.

Then there was my wife's bedside gun that got put away when we had a house-sitter come in one weekend while we were out of town. I looked through every safe I own, repeatedly, and couldn't find it. Finally, I got a flashlight and suddenly it came to light - it was on edge, vertical, behind the side pilar where you just couldn't see it.

It happens. We sometimes joke about finding them in the sofa cushions here.

my wife always laughs at my losing things routine whenever I leave the house. I usually try to direct blame "where did you put my keys...". to this day Im convinced she hides something then puts it in plain sight after a few minutes.

At my age I never lose anything, I just find stuff that I don't ever remember buying!

I must really be messed up. I've managed to perform several of the feats described above.
