The primary benefit is the NRA's member count increases by 1, thus increasing the NRA's clout statewide and nationwide, which furthers gun rights for all.
American Rifleman magazine is pretty good too. Its as good as a pay for magazine. Make sure you pick that one when you join in my opinion.Comment

The main benefit is that you are supporting a powerful and effective national firearms rights lobby. They are not perfect. They have made some regrettable decisions in times past. But they are the only game in town for protecting 2nd Amendment Rights from the US Congress.
If you do not want their offers and advertisements they are very good about stopping the calls and mailings if you call and ask them to.Better Way to Search CalGuns - https://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=0...78:pzxbzjzh1zk

My guess is the NRA isn't "allowing" them to use their name.....I "signed up" for a lifetime membership at the glendale gun show.
Got $2000 in fraudulent charges shortly thereafter (i'm not responsible for any of the charges). Dont know if they're related, but ive never had a fraudulent charge before. And the NRA says they never got my membership application.
Pretty annoyed about it. Not saying the NRA is responsible, but it sure doesnt leave me with alot of confidence in the people they're allowing to use their name...
If you're going to sign up, i'd go through their website or a source you know/trust.Comment

Opting out of NRA mailings is pretty easy. Start here.

They tend to support a right-wing Republican agenda. I would prefer that Wayne LaPierre not have unprotected sex with Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity, but they do work to promote gun rights. I hold my nose and join. You can get what is in essence a freebie here: https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/s...10&EK=Y0GVB10C

Yeah right. I am still waiting for them and the CRPA to respond to an email I sent to the both of them over two months ago.Opting out of NRA mailings is pretty easy. Start here.Comment

I was a member for about 10 years. I got tired of getting a letter from Wayne LaPierre about twice a month telling me that the sky was falling and he needs more money. The sky can't be falling that often. I appreciate what they do but it is a far from perfect organization. How much money does old Wayne bring down anyway?
I just looked it up, about $970,000.00 annually. No wonder he's always asking for more cash.Last edited by kayaker; 08-31-2011, 7:03 PM.Comment
