Why do you need to know?

I rather let him try to resolve the problem first before I post.

Maybe you should call Burro and ask for him?

I do not. I did some hiking up east fork this weekend and stopped by to take a look at the place. I have plans to bring a few friends up there in a couple of weeks. What did you think of the place? I was trying to understand the pricing but it seems like you need to pay for the individual ranges? I would be using both rifles and handguns and I don't want to pay $15 each times 6-8 people.

The area is nice once you get like a mile or so from the road away from where idiots have tagged or carved everything and there are thousands of broken bottles

As far as I know the owner / lease holder is Joe Cavanaugh.

Range fees are $10.00 per shooter for all day. Children under 16 years of age can shoot for free if accompanied by a paying adult. This gives you access to the rifle range, skeet shotgun range and handgun range, all day.

Target frames are $2.00 rental, plus an additional deposit of $8.00 per target frame. If you don't shoot and damage your frame, you get the full $8.00 back.

The newly opened section for longer range rifle shooting is the only seperate part from the "regular" range and is $15 or an extra $5 if you're a member.

The owner is the tall white guy mid 40's with dark brown hair and a beard.

He always has a straw hat on and 2 jack russell terriers with him

You can try talking to him if you see him there.

At the moment I cannot recall his name.

Thanks for the info guys. Btw does anyone know offhand what the cost is to rent the private range for say 8 people and what distance you can setup there? I know we will be using a lot of handguns and a few carbines but I think a few long guns might be around too.

                      Thanks again guys,
                      E

If you are lookin to rent a private" range at Burro - they charge 40.00 per person for the first 4 people, and then 15.00 per additional person, they will throw you to a range that has weeds, plants, rocks, etc. You need to bring shade, tables, and target stands or rent them from Burro. Other than that it was fun. You just have to be the Range "nazi" for safety.

Hope it helps. I'lll keep you posted on my problems with Burro,

And you usually have to call several weeks in advance to book a private range, unless you want to try your luck and just show up. They have several private ranges at various distances. I had 4A before and it was only about 50 meters. They didn't really want us shooting any high power rifles on it but let us slide if we fired from right corner to left corner. So keep that in mind for the shorter ranges. They have old picnic benches at the private ranges and rifle stands. Bring some trash bags to pick up after yourselves because the cans they have say shotshells only on them.

Your best bet is just to call em and talk to them. If you get the old guy on the phone he is super nice and will answer all your questions. If you get the guy who is always in some kind of major hurry you might want to call back later.

FOr rental of the private range, 7A will be your best bet. It's 125yds long. The cost is $60 for the first 4 people (NOT PER PERSON)., then it's $15 per person.

OK, Here is an update. Spoke to Jerry today, he stated he was the owner/manager of the range. He was responsive to my questions and thoughts.

To sum what happened Burro Canyon take your credit card and drivers license when you rent out a private range. The reason they hold both is at the end of shooting day, they want to make sure you clean up your shooting area or they will tack on a $150.00 cleaning fee.

My advice to everyone is, find a way to keep the data on your CC and DL secure.

Can you guess why I had to cancel my credit card and talk to the owner??

Will I shoot there again? Only, if he changes the way that CC and DL information is protected.
