It's called open carry. It isn't the most popular thing around here as there have been a number of negative perceptions in the public eye conducted by people who open carry. Do not do it without knowing the laws and knowing the area which you intend to carry on this practice. A much safer option (legally) would be to lock unloaded concealed carry (LUCC) if you must carry without a CCW.

Until you find the PC for the gun free school zone and the 1000' surrounding it as well as the right officers have to inspect your weapon upon request to verify it is unloaded all the while properly placing your recording device and knowing how you will behave when other people call the cops for "man with a gun". This is a complicated and weighty decision, ignorance of the law does not protect you from the consequences of violating the law.

FYI dude, you're not showing anyone anything they haven't already discussed over and over. No one has said you can't open carry. There was an attempt at banning it but afaik, nothing has come to fruition.

Yes you can open carry. But you shouldn't.

Unless you have $40K of liquid assets you don't mind putting up for your legal defense fund.

Ask Thesus here why public defenders suck... and how not knowing EXACTLY how far from EVERY school you will ever pass by matters.

All the more reason to join on this forum. Don't take it personally, it's just that this has been covered, which you would've seen if you had looked at the stickies or done a search.

don't take it personal...its just a touchy subject. You would not have known this.

another reason to try a search before you post.

                            welcome and hope you stay.

You can carry an unloaded firearm, but only in areas that do not prohibit such actions, such as school zones.

As others have said, it's risky, even if you do know all of the laws. If you're going to OC, you should have a bit of money set aside for legal bills.
