First I would not blame AAA as I went to DMV 3 times and AAA once to get my address changes a couple of years ago on my DL/car registrations.

I almost got to pay late fees as they never did change it until the 4th time and a nasty letter to the head people in Sac got their attention.

About the pick ups. I know a person who did that but then got a big fine and back reg fees when he was stopped with just 2 bags of cattle feed in his. So just be carefull.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I'm highly interested in knowing the steps for this. I have a 1-ton with a camper-camper, not even just a shell (it is now a 4x4 RV for all intense purposes). Can anybody point me the way pretty please with sugar on top!

take it to the DMV and tell them you want to change its registration type.

you will need the pink slip and old plates and money, go to the dmv and wait forever lol. They didnt even want to look at my truck, but you never know.

if you want to know how much your tags will drop look at the renewal, for the weight fee.

                AAA

For AAA, Went in today to change from commercial to passenger plates, took my title and check book.

Lady said I don't think that can be done unless you have camper attached.
I explained I had a cab high camper shell and don't haul anything but personal items in the bed. (note this is a Ford ranger)

She went out to the truck verified the VIN. noted the millage. We went back inside, she handed me my new plates and stickers. I asked how much do I owe you, she said nothing. DMV will mail you your new title.

I was out of there in less than 30 min. Big thank you to AAA.

Commercial plates allow you to talk on you cell phone while driving too. Legally

My friend....AAA did not fail you. They do not deal with driver's licenses only vehicle registration. So i suspect if you changed an address At AAA it wad only for a particular. Sorry

How are commercial plates different? The plates on my truck don't look any different than the ones on cars.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
