    AAA fails!!!

I changed my address with AAA for the DMV in January this year. Why am I getting a call from the Sheriff's department telling me that my CCW app is on hold until I change my address with the DMV. AAA fails I guess. Oh well more delays in a already long process.

I have to go to AAA to get my truck lic. changed from com. to regular.

Have a Ford Ranger with a shell, not a work truck. Hope they can get that handled!

Let me know how that works out... I tried to do that with mine and DMV guy said ALL Trucks are Commercial plates!

Maybe I got a moron, which would make me one for not researching further.

They normally enter the info into the DMV computer while you are standing right there. Did they do that? I bet they did and somehow, someone at DMV screwed up. But, that's just my guess. You can blame whom ever you want to.

Absolutely WRONG! the DMV does NOT screw up, it must be someone else's fault

I realize this probably doesn't apply now, 1962 I had a 1957 Ford Ranchero with a comm. plate. Being in the Navy at the time and making $82 (E 2) a month I couldn't afford a comm. plate. DMV told me as long as I haul personal stuff, sleeping bag, cooler, Coleman stove and no tools I could change my plate. Which I did.

I'll let you know what happens!

yeah you got a moron. if your pickup has any shell other than a tonneau cover on it you can have it registered as a passenger vehicle rather than commercial and bam like that your registration costs nearly get cut in half. i own a 2000 Sonoma and it was killing me why it was a "commercial" vehicle and cost so much to reg after lots of research on the net i discovered that "loophole" if you call it that because even the state has openly stated that the vast majority of pickup trucks in the state are not used for commercial uses and its really just a big scam to make the state more money. typical liberal state BS imo

I don't know if this applies to the OP, but...
DMV has (or at least several years ago had) two different address databases. One for vehicle registration and one for your driver's license. It is possible that AAA changed your vehicle registration and not your license.

I know if you put a camper shell on it (and it's "permanent") you can register it non-commercial.

Does it have to be permanent?

i was told i could not carry anything in the bed if the shell was off.

but i have a long bed with shell and it will still fit 2 pallets of bricks in it, and thats ok i guess sense i have a shell. if you didnt have a shell on it and got pulled over, you might get a ticket depending on the cop. and you can still use it to tow with.

makes no sense at all. i can still carry the same weight with the shell as i can without the shell, just with the shell on, its more of a pain to get things out.
