    1) is it for the enjoyment of putting one back together?
    2) is it cheaper than buying a already finished one?
    3) is it you can buy parts you normally wouldnt get?

i seen some aks parts kits but for around $400 i can get a finished one, whats up with that? any info is helpful
Well a few years ago I could get parts kits for $100 and complete a rifle for about $200.

Yes, I have over a dozen of them. NDS are the best on the market.

Add compliance parts and build to your specs, about $400 total on the lower end. Even if you compare that to a Century Golani at about $600, its a better price on a better gun. Subtract ALL taxes/dros fees and youre way ahead of the game. Plus YOU BUILT IT YOURSELF. The badass factor alone makes it worth it.
Where have you found kits for that price? It would be awesome to build one.

          Wait...wait...wait...Was this a serious question??

Gun building is more then a hobby, its a milestone that every gun owner should experience. I can not tell you how much more I respect the firearms, that I have built from a kit.

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking.

it would be nice to be able to build a kit gun , but i am not sure if i have the skills to do it. ar15s aren't hard but aks or others that require welding i have no idea. I want to get into something more exotic but doing my research to see when i can handle and what i cant. oh besides i didnt know there were so many different kinds of ak47s and 74 variants
            ehhh

Not sure of your location but build parties are great ways to learn.

Enjoyment of putting one back together and learning every aspect of the firearm. Not giving your tax dollars to the government with out DROS or waiting for 10 days. Enjoying the fact this is your right to build firearms.

Well, this is only true if you're using a flat, blank, any other form of "80%" receiver, or building a receiver completely from scratch.

So is it legal to cut the receiver on a perfectly good UZI and then mail it to a person in CA as gun parts.
I am asking because this is what a CA resident wants me to do, and I'm wandering if it is legal.
                      Thanks

It needs to be cut the right way. 3 angled cuts with a cutting torch displacing at least 1/4" of metal. Ugh. wouldn't it be cool if he could just use a saw? It would be a snap to re weld.

Wait, you mean I could just go buy guns instead of building them? What's the fun in that?
