Any reason a FLL would make you wait 11 days?

Did a handgun PPT on Saturday September 22nd at 4:30pm (it was completed at 4:30). So my 10, 24 hour periods would be up on October 2nd at 4:30pm. This place is 2 hours from me but I will be in the area on the 2nd around 8pm (they close at 10pm) and wanted to pick up my gun but they said no, the earliest time I could pick it up is 10am on the 3rd. Ok no problem if it was before my 10 days but I am not going to be in the area on the 3rd and would have to drive 2 hours there, and then 2 hours back just for this. Any reason they would make me wait till the 11th day? Anything I could tell them? I asked two separate people and they both told me no. I just don't want to drive an extra 4 hours if I don't have to.

Some dealers do it "Just to make sure". Drives me nuts too, some of them even add their own forms "Just to make sure".

It sucks because I planned the date I did the FFL just because I knew I was going to be there on the 2nd. So they can make you wait and don't have to give you the gun at the end of the 10 days? Now I will have to wait till the following week beause I have class/work all week and gone that following weekend. So now I can't pick it up till October 12th...

It does suck, but some FFLs just want to be absolutely SURE they can't screw themselves.

This isn't 11 days though really, it is more like 10 and a half

Try talking to a manager and tell them your situation. It's not hard to calculate when your 10 days is over.

Target Masters in Milpitas does the same thing. It's just to cover their A**. There are too many things they can get tripped up on, and they don't want that to be one of them. Talking to the owner won't even do you any good there.

I would call and try one more time. Just be polite and explain to them one more time you are going to be in the area, you would greatly appreciate them saving you the trip, and the savings in gas you would gladly rather spend in their store.

I can understand why some of the bigger stores go with 11 days when you have teenage employees or $10 an hour employees. I just keep it simple because I can do math, ten 24 hour periods every single time.

Even the guys at Ades do it, unless you call them on it.

Turner's in Reseda just did the same thing to me on a PPT. I did it on Sunday the 23rd, so instead of writing October 3rd after 12.00pm, they wrote October 4th any time. I didn't catch it till I was out of the store, really pissed me off.

I called again and explained my problem to someone and they confirmed the earliest I can pick it up is Wednesday and not Tuesday. I then asked if I could talk to their boss and asked that person to go through my paperwork and tell me when I started my DROS and he told me 4:15pm on September 22nd and I asked him when my 10, 24 hours would be up and he told me October 2nd at 4:15 and I said great now when is the earliest I can pick up my gun and he said October 3rd 10am... I again asked him if my 10 days is up and the law states I only have to wait 10 days why do I need to wait an extra 18 hours? He put me on hold and when he came back and said if I must have the gun on Tuesday then i can pick it up anytime after 4:15. I thanked him and said see you Tuesday. Looks like I am getting it Tuesday now

Do they really? I was going to go pick up on Tuesday but if they want me to wait 11 days then I wouldn't be able to go in until the 3rd.

every store has their own policy for the waiting period being 10 or 11.from what i was told at a shop was just in case there was something wrong in the paperwork or if the firearm was picked up before the 10th 24 hour period, that when it came down to being audited or legality wise they were on top of their game.

Ade's hasn't for any of mine. I remember Ade specifically mentioning the time of day I could pick it up 10 days later on the last one.
