That is why I have suppressors and a wood stock on my cat gun. The only noise you hear is me putting another notch on my stock with my knife. When that stock gets full, it gets mounted in a glass case in my garage. I am already running out of space on my walls.

An industrial strength stupid thing to do on so many levels.
Another one of those play stupid games, win stupid prizes situations.
Not to mention it isn't going to endear anyone to firearms rights.
Oh, that jackass on the corner? Yeah he shoots cats. I hate guns.

He can avoid all the legal hassles of a discharge of firearms charge by switching to a crossbow.

IIRC you can legally kill any stray animal (cat, dog, pot belly pig, whatever)that enters your property, so long as the killing is not considered "cruelty to animals".

Since hunting with bows and firearms is legally accepted as not cruel to the animals being hunted, these methods are legal where their use is otherwise legal.

If you live in the sticks and can legally discharge a firearm, then you can shoot cats in your own yard so long as you kill them. If you are using a Daisy pump air rifle and it will only allow your pellet to penetrate to just under the skin, that is cruelty to animals. If you are using a powerful CO2 rifle that will kill a cat with a single shot, no problem.

If you live in city limits, then go with the crossbow. I have yet to see any local ordinance against shooting a crossbow within city limits. Check your local ordinances (YMMV).

What are these things called "cats" that everyone is always talking about?

Are they really that bad of a problem? If they are so common, how come me and my 4 hunting dogs never see any around here

You have never had a tom cat get into your garage and defecate and urinate on top of your fabric convertable top.

There is no getting the smell of cat piss out of a fabric top. Replacing the top costs $$$$$$$$$$ big money.

I have no problem in putting a round clean through Sylvester's tiny little kitty skull. It isn't cruel, he never even hears it coming. One second he's here, next second he's dead.

He then goes into a dark plastic garbage bag and gets tossed into the trash can with all the other garbage.

The key is descretion. Take the cat out, then get rid of the carcass. Neighbor comes around asking if "Mr. Wiggles" has been seen lately, say, "No, haven't seen any cats around lately!" In my area, people who let their cats run around outside stand a high probability of their becoming Coyote food. If the get spotted in my yard, a pellet will deprive a Coyote of a tasty snack.

a few shots out of an airsoft gun usually scares away the strays in my neighborhood.

Note: Airsoft guns DO NOT work on opossums..... unless you have full auto

Apparently, America is just like some Asian country. Only difference is that Americans don't eat cat. Well, at least we think so..

They had a cool cat that would catch 'em too, so we worked in tandem to rid our area of these pest.

I'm all for shooting feral cats. You know, the ones that have been dumped by the city dwellers in the sticks, the ones out in the country that breed and breed and breed, make a mess on a farm and ruin small livestock, crap all over the place especially in the bed of my truck. Yeah, I'm all for controlling the population of feral cats. They are just wild animals as far as I'm concerned and rank right down there with flea bitten jack rabbits.

Shooting the neighbor's cat that wandered into my yard to take a crap, NO!! I usually take a shovel and pick up the turds and return them to the neighbor that owns the cat. No reason to shoot a cat or any other PET, emphasis on PET.

Besides, inside city limits is a no-no.

Must have been many years ago - discharging a pellet/bb gun carries the same charge as firing your .22lr in your back yard. Shooting a pigeon carries the same charge as shooting your neighbors dog.

That's crazy. Pigeons are the arial version of rats. They produce huge amounts of crap anywhere they roost which makes them a total nuisance. I had to climb onto my roof and screen off the different places they were nesting, in order to keep their crap out of my pool, off my windows, and from clogging my gutters. If that didn't work (thankfully it did), I was gonna bust out the crossman and start capping me some birds...

Ever seen a pigeon nest? It's a combination of straw and pigeon shiite. They are disgusting birds that sleep in their own shiite!
