Guys, you're looking at this all the wrong way. All these decisions are made by people far from the pulse of gun culture and what does or does not exist. Their budgets are small and the people in the shop are nothing more then regular people doing their jobs who now are directed to do so in ways that look good for tv.

Your average sons of guns watcher knows nothing of a dragunov ( although that is one my dream list ) Mind you, i think their version of a thousand yard ak is not something i would ever buy or build.

That being said , like was stated earlier....who cares it's a gun show! We can all be so critical on this site and lose sight of the fact that it makes it more acceptable to the general public to own and manufacture fire arms, and that ain't a bad thing

i am just worried of the wrong idea that the show has now portrayed with shooting a shotgun indoors and firing blanks. he is not following the golden rules of gun ownership. he just laughs and thinks it is funny that his coworkers get scared when he does it.

I dunno, a show that accurately portrays the subject matter from a channel that used to show nothing but fairly accurate and neutral programming about things before some management decision turned it into a damn reality TV channel? Garbage programming like this is why I quit watching the Discovery Channel. It had documentaries about world wars, shows about historical locations around the globe, modern technology, architecture, etc. Those shows were usually presented in a professional manner with references for source material. Now it's garbage reality tv shows spewing nonsense for the "Bro's" in the audience to laugh at idiots causing drama over stupid crap that they don't even try to make correct.

I want a show about guns, not a show about idiots with guns.

Meh. I know we gun guys can get really nitpicky about gun shows, but shows like this one and Top Shot, which I watched fairly regularly with my wife (who dislikes guns) DOES improve the public's perception and acceptance of firearms and the shooting sports. The more folks see it on TV, the more relevant and close-to-home and therefore "normal" it becomes.

For instance, think of MMA. A decade ago, seeing two guys fight like that would have been shocking and disturbing. It looks, to the uninitiated, like a semi-organized street brawl / gladiator contest. The usage of knees and elbows and punching guys while they're on the ground makes some uneasy.

Well, flash forward to today and MMA is (almost) as mainstream, and therefore as accepted and mundane, as football, baseball, basketball, etc. It's no big deal. That's where I want firearm culture to get to in America (or at least California). I want, when someone finds out I have guns, for them to go, "Oh, cool. When was the last time you went to the range?" Not, "[gasp!] Why do you need a gun!?!? Aren't you skeered of it!?!"
          "Two dead?!? HOW?!?"

I get what you're saying, and you're right about mainstream exposure being good. It's just that there's a right way and a wrong way to go about it. Yes, showing people sitting at a lathe for an hour would be boring, but they could at least acknowledge it. Hell, some of the crazy art I've seen on some guns would also be interesting to show(show people that there is some cool customization that can be done for aesthetics other than that chintzy south american druglord goldplating crap), show off what goes into making decent optics, slow motion video of bullets impacting objects(hell, they had a whole show just about stuff being hit with stuff in slow motion for a while). There's just so many other things they could be doing besides hokey scripted drama reality show #519 on cable tv.

I like the show and will keep watching but I feel they are insulting the intelligence of gun owners that know how guns work and know the difference between a Siaga and an AK. Whats next "were going to make a cap and ball rifle accurate to 1 mile on this show" Then they put a little flint lock on a Barrett 50 caliber rifle and say "look we did it". I guess I hate FUD from anywhere.

i don't like the show because everything the are doing has already been done and all they are doing just showing us.
but if you can make a rifle that can use several sizes of ammunition just by putting a new mag in it then i'll like the show

Ok sure it's all been done before. That's only relevant if previous constructions where better. That's the important question not how many times it's been done but if THIS TIME it's better, which it appears to be.

Maybe red jacket will build something different like a sniper Mosin Nagant in 7.62x54r.
They are always so ahead of the game, aren't they?

Remember the Semi tommy gun they converted to a full auto? LOL
