I was thinking about starting a thread after seeing an 'aggressive' price on an off list handgun in the marketplace. Aggressive as in almost double the price of out of state. This particular member had another gun for sale for big money as well. I have a couple off list pistols that the parents gave me as gifts. If I ever had to sell them I would try to get a fair market price in California. Double the price?? On a Metaba perhaps, but for a common out of state pistol its just bad form. It just screams, "I got this and you will have to pay for it if ya want it." Nice.

With that said, I bought an off list pistol for about $60 above what I have seen them for sale here before. I was looking for that particular model and it was super clean. So it was worth the extra $60.

A lot of people (myself included) purposely post high prices, because we all know how much of a cheap *** a Calgunner can be

We know we are not likely to get our asking price, and we know that we're likely to be lowballed, so we start it a bit high. I've never sold a firearm at my asking price, always under because I know people are just going to try and bargain. Like someone said, it doesn't hurt to ask for a lower price, the worst they can do is say no (unless you lowball them way too much, then he will also likely ridicule you).

Look at this guy everything even over MSRP. Who pay MSRP for a Mini-14 wtf. The only thing priced to move is the Desert Eagle.

A gun store wouldn't over price everything that much..$950 for a mini-14, S&W 340PD for $1000 turners has them for $900, I think ammo bro is the same.

He piped in on another thread about selling off-roster guns and high-caps.

He used to be an FFL, and is apparently wanting to get back into business.
Guess he's wanting to sell off his collection to help finance the new business?

It's also amazing to see how many guns out there have had ZERO FTF's, FTE's, Light strikes, Squibs, etc, etc, etc.
I've noticed that MOST of the guns on the for sale section are "used like new". Gun's that are shot a few hundred rounds and then put away for a long time.

I'm curious. When some of these guys post "sold" on their listing for something egregiously overpriced - did it actually sell, or is that a covert way of withdrawing it?

                      Watch his iTrader.

If no iTrader from the transaction, then it wasn't really a sale, or you don't want to sell to whoever the buyer was if you can find out.

If there is iTrader, check the buyer's posting and iTrader history to see if he's a shill buyer.

It's one thing to see the 'crazy' demands & stipulations when you want to weed out the looky-loo's and get a real buyer. But it's another thing when the demands & stipulations are pretty unreasonable and very unflexible towards the buyer, like only meeting up on Tuesday nights from 7pm - 7:30pm only at the seller's local FFL, and will not make other arrangements (yes, I've actually seen that twice before).

[QUOTE=Josh3239;6789485]Or make an offer, worse case scenario they say no, but best case scenario they say yes. You have nothing to lose./QUOTE]

What's funny is I will make a reasonable offer, and put in an explaination for that offer too. It's not a lowball, but lower than their asking price (which is usually just about as much, or more, than MSRP at most stores). 9 times out of 10, they take it as an insult and tell me to get lost .

Im always surprised by the guns that have only had 50 or less rounds through them. What a boring range trip that must be, I just got my Saiga and it already has 100+ rounds through it from one day.

For some reason the for "sale forum" really bothers some people.
