Tatical Flashlight

Surefire is still a bit behind the ball, regarding the leading edge of LED technology. I would assume due to the nature of their clientele they have to spend more time in research and developement. Because of this several other companies out their are using the brighter and/or longer run time LED's such as the Cree or Seoul P4. For the same amount of money, you could get brighter or longer running lights from companies such as Wolf Eyes.
I have my mix of Surefires and other brands, but my bedside light is a Wolf eyes sniper.
I have the Surefire U2, it is a great light, but I am not sure I would use it as a tactical light. It puts out a nice wall of light, but not much spot lighting from it, to reach out and touch someone. For a $200+ flashlight, I would expect it to not have tailcap issues and a donut ring, that consistently plagues the U2. I had the defective tailcap, that I was able to fix myself; and I have slight donut ring beam, that I have learned to overlook. Despite that it is a great light, but it still uses Luxeon LEd technology. I would purchase LED's with either CREE's, Seoul P4, or maybe the new Rebel LED technology.Last edited by Creampuff; 09-20-2007, 3:51 PM.Comment

I was thinking that Fenix P3D had what I was looking for at a good price, but now??? (100+ lumens, multi-level output, not too expensive)
I just read that Fenix lights are made in China? How's the quality? According to BrightGuy.com website, Fenix only recommends highest out put (Turbo mode) for 10 min or less. That's kinda sucks. Otherwise I'm limited to 90 lumens for constant use.
How about Wolf Eyes D2AX-Ⅱ(Cree P4)??? China also
Any other options with Cree or Seoul P4??
Thanks.Last edited by neomedic; 09-20-2007, 5:01 PM.Comment

I am pretty sure that SUREFIRE wont let dealer lower their price. 12 batteries would cost you around 20 bucks plus free shipping. That is a lot cheaper than most placesI have a G2 with incandescent lamp already for when something goes bump in the night.
But I wanted a LED tactical light for its long run time in case of power outage, camping, etc.
Anymore sources? And how does INOVA compare to Surefire???
LAPoliceGear had this on their website in red indicating a sale. I thought it was funny:

Got one, love it. Painfully bright.
If you have to use it in a dark room when your eyes are adjusted, slit your eyes. It's bright enough to be a bit painful, even when you're using it.
Streamlight is a very good brand. I've used their Stylus a lot and have a Stinger rechargeable (a lot of mechanics use them) at work. Very well-made lights.sigpicNRA MemberOriginally posted by Deadbolt"We're here to take your land for your safety"

I am looking for LED light for the long run time.
Budget...about $120 (under $150)
I preferred CR123A lith-ion
The longer the warranty the better, but I would like a light that is I can depend on. (I know even the best of companies might have problems once in awhile, but I want one that is known for its durability and not for its issues.)
Thanks.Comment

Will you be able to light-adjust after a few seconds and be able to open your eyes fully without blinding?Got one, love it. Painfully bright.

I have a Dorcy, but now that I know I would strongly recommend the PalmBlaze K2 130 Lumen on sale at www.batteryjunction.com for $34.95. Besides the blinding power of 130 lumens, you'll see no rings or distortion within the beam when you place it on a ceiling or wall. Best I've ever seen. The Surefires have almost half the lumens at twice the price.Last edited by MedSpec65; 09-22-2007, 5:30 PM."We're surrounded. That simplifies our problem.
