Need help getting into a lockbox...

Okay, so I've managed to loose the key to my Sentry 1900 lock box. I'm pretty sure my two year-old has put it in the garbage.... yes, that's what he likes to do with random stuff. Anyway, it has a few H&K magazines in it and I want them out so who can tell me the least invasive way to get into this box? I really don't want to damage the mags, just want in the box.

    It looks identical to this:

You could also take a grinder or a dremal to the crease above the lock.

          This^^^^

These boxes really are not meant to secure items from theft as much as they are meant to protect against fire damage. The locks on them are a joke and easily defeated. Clamp securely, place SD in crease above lock, punch open .

Me? I'd buy the pick, pick it, and go get a new set of keys made (assuming the value of the box itself is worth the effort+cost). Those tubular locks are a joke to pick if you have the tool. You'll either need an 8 pin or a 7 pin, I'm guessing.

You can pick it with a paperclip if you do a little research. Make sure to destroy the paperclip afterwards, as it's illegal to have lock picking tools without the right certifications...lol

Thanks guys. I plan to go with the screwdriver method.

Is there a serial number on the box that you can send to the manufacturer to get a replacement key?

Try the Bic pen method. Cut the back end off, jam into lock and twist in the right direction.

Maybe take it to a lock and safe shop and ask them if they can open it and re-key it. The price might be reasonable if you take it to them.

Flat head screw driver right in the crease and a hammer will pop it right open. just like the other poster said. Seen it on storage wars lol

best thing for them to pick the lock is a metal finger nail file.
