    Kings Gun Works.

Apparantly, the moderators are limiting access to earlier threads. Anyway, I recently posted a complimentary thread on King's Gun Works. One person agreed with me on all points, except timliness. Well, I turned my Commander
into them, last Saturday. (slide hanging up) I got it back, today! As gunsmiths go, that's pretty fast. Unfortunately, they have a sign posted that
thet are not accepting any new work, at this time, because of the large amount that they have now. The only exception, is law enforcement. That always takes priority. As I said, before, BEAUTIFUL work. Kudos King's!
P.S. I called three other listed gunsmiths here in the SFV. NO answers! just machines! To HELL with those lazy B*******!

Kings is one of the best that's why they are so backed up. If you ever shot a 1911 built by Kings you'd throw rocks at your SA, Kimber, Baer, WC, EB.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

I recommend Dean Wilkerson Gunsmithing 818-988-7266. Dean is good and his prices are very fair.

Dean Wilkerson never answers his phone or returns messages. It sucks that King's Gunworks is willing to do worl for LE but not for every one else. Here we go again....law enforcement is priority...

I have been buying stuff from Kings for years and Love the heck out of them.
They do get busy, and they deserve all the good business they get, and they will do your work in a reasonable and timely manner just like any GOOD shop will. As for taking care of LEO, I guess that's the price of keeping on good terms with local law enforcement which seems like a good idea to me. The fact is I want them to STAY in business
regardless, as good small shops are becoming few and far between.

            Kings...

I believe they may be down to one smith. Maybe I'm wrong, but Al passed away some time ago. I was in a year ago and they were lamenting that local business had slowed after frames became unavailable. No comps either. I have a Springfield built by Kings and I love it.

I have nothing wrong with that, and if I were a gun-smith or FFL/store, I would do the same. There are good reasons for it too. First, it's good for the community. Second, most cops are doing a rough job few others want to do, and we as a community should support them whenever possible - their access to their tools and utilities to do their job is more important than any of our access to our tools and utilities to simply entertain ourselves, pass the time, post pics of our guns here on Calguns, and just have fun at the range. I say that even if the gun being worked on is the LEO's personal home defense gun, merely because he is still likely to respond to trouble with that gun if something is going wrong in his own neighborhood whereas other people might simply look the other way and not wish to get involved (in some cases because CA limits the average Joe from doing so with their firearm ).

But most importantly, it serves the store well; why you ask?

Have you ever wondered WHY so many dough-nut shops give free coffee and/or donuts, or discounts, to LEO? Because dough-nuts are not expensive. And many, many, many people each day pay for dough-nut in CASH. At any point in time, there may be more cash in the drawer with easy access at a dough-nut shop then there is at your local bank. Having cops around is free security. Would you rob a dough-nut shop with a cop car sitting out front? Flower shops also extend such gratuities for the same reasons - the cash factor. And what other business is a likely target for high-profile aggressive robberies? Gun stores.

Be nice to the police, and if something goes bad, those LEO will be in quick response, especially if you are a gun store that treats them well. Having LEO around your gun store during business hours is free security, to say the least.

All of this aside, as I said before, LEO deserve to be treated well, simply because of the job they do.

              .

I think everyone needs to be treated equally, no matter what your profession is. Period.

It is a private business and I have no problem with them giving priority to LEOs. Some people support our troops and I guess Kings support LEOs. I also have no problem with them not taking new orders. While it may make me sad if I ever wanted to get some custom work done from them but as what was said earlier, they just have too much work on hand at the time. Just as some people wait a year for a custom holsters, those who want work from Kings will just have to wait. I'm pretty sure the new orders they get from LEOs are nothing compared to those they would receive from regular Joes.

                    Kings

Diablo, I agree with the point that everyone SHOULD be treated equally. But that is not going to happen in the real world. getting upset about it will accomplish nothing. As to giving special treatment to LE, look at it realistically. Most civilians who take their guns to Kings, just want some custom or after market features. Their lives do not depend on the guns. For officers, their side arms are tools of their trade and their lives or yours may depend on them. Or, more importantly to me, mine might! Therefore, I see no problem, at all, with giving officers priorty!

It's their choice. I don't have a problem with their decision or any one else's opinion. I just don't agree with it.

How many gunsmiths does King's have now?

                        I'm curious. Anyone know?

                            Kings

As of Thursday, King's has only one gunsmith working. Bill Capone. I have talked with him often. He is a very nice person as well as a Master Gunsmith.
But with only one smith working, They are bound to have a backlog. Just today, I was calling around, because of the backlog. Martin B. Retting's gunsmith retired. No help there. dean Wilkerson won't answer the phone or return messages. So I called Bain and Davis in San Gabriel. I hate to drive that far, but Their gunsmith fixed my problem while I waited, supplied a couple of parts I wanted and charged me a VERY reasonable price! So kudos to them as well. I hated the drive, but loved the service.
