      Yup. I've got a question.

Since those statements are a whole load of BS, why don't you prove it?

What is so different about the operations of the two firearms that AR's can't use steel ammunition? What makes an AK so different that it can use steel ammunition?

if it doesn't shoot wolf, its broken. my AR will cycle anything, better than my ak even.

I have shots hundreds of rounds of Tula trough my bcm 16" mid length ar without a single problem. If your ar won't shoot cheap ammo then something is wrong with your gun.

Yup, never once had any problem with steel cased ammo. I've used .223 7.62x39, 9mm, .308 and 45acp

I have shot probably a total of 800rds of the steel and zinc rds through my AR with no problems. Guns where pretty damn hot but the ammo wasn't lacquered so that shouldn't mater? Thread wasn't ment to bag on steel cased ammo.

I have a sig 220, tried running a box of wolf through it, and it was the ****TIEST ammo ever. Jammed, stuck, ftf, fte, and this gun DOES NOT have those problems. In 10k rounds, wolf is the only ammo I have had problems with. You run ****ty ammo you get ****ty results, as the saying goes, crap in, crap out.

Now this part I agree with.

Steel cased ammo just isn't manufactured to the quality standards that American brass ammo is.

This is why you get case-head separations, tearing of the rim, poor performance, etc.

It has nothing to do with the gun you run it in. Crap ammo is crap ammo. Period.

However, for plinking and general tooling around I'll usually run steel just due to its price. I'm not looking for performance or accuracy in that case. I just want blaster ammo.

In my 3,600+ rounds of Hornady TAP Practice ammo, i've never had any of these issues. Not all steel cased ammo is crap, and contrary to popular belief, AR's WILL feed and fire steel cased ammo perfectly fine.

Its the only ammo I shoot, except the FPD i keep in a few mags.

I agree with CHS: crap ammo is crap ammo. period.

It took very little force to get the shell out with a rod, so I wouldn't say the shell was "stuck" in the chamber. Then the exact same thing happens in the Saiga 7.62 with Military Wolf.

Just found it odd that after hundreds of rounds with no problems this would happen two times in a row like that. Anyway I will still shoot it, and will bring my cleaning rod with me when I go out from now on.
Gas blowback from the non expanding steel case causes carbon buildup in the chamber. Clean the chamber more often than brass cased ammo and it should run fine.

Actually, if you're JUST running steel and don't switch between brass and steel, then you don't really have to worry about it. Maybe every couple thousand rounds or something, but that's all.

And steel cases do expand. And brass cases also get blowback. It's just that steel doesn't expand as much as brass to create as good of a seal as brass does. Brass expands better than steel, but it still doesn't create a perfect seal.

The shortcomings of steel ammunition are present regardless of barrel length.

I was warned never to use Wolf 45 in my 1911's and was shown this barrel which I took this pic of - unfortunately I have alot of Wolf 45 left, I guess for my revolver with half moon clips - ever see anything like this with steel cased pistol ammo?
