    Vallejo Gun Show

I went to the show this morning only to find that Miwall did not bring any of the .223 reloads. They did have Federal m193 and wolf. The federal was $179 for 500 and the wolf was $209 for 1k rounds.

There is a guy next to the ammo dump booth that is selling .223 reloads for $55 for 250. It looks like the brass is a mixture of LC, FC, winchester and some random with NATO head stamp.

yeah! PMC bronze (55gr) is $300/1k. Bought 1k rounds of Remington 22lr for $21.35. Lots of lever guns & the usual crap. Picked up 2 30 cal ammo boxes for $10. Great condition & clean, too.

Saw some guys advertising 30-06 armor piercing rounds on clips. Couple of guys were questioning them about legality & they were arguing about when the DOJ has changed their ruling....blah, blah, blah.

Went to see the Asian guy selling all the fake Aimpoints, Eotech & one guy actually paid $150 for a Clonepoint. Ouch!

    Left after 1.5 hours.

I just got back. I too was disappointed Miwall didn't bring any reloads.

Nice show. The firearm to jerky ratio was 100:1. I have to say though, I think the other thing that is killing this sport in CA is high prices. Good God. I wanted to outright laugh at some of these people. It's one thing to make a profit, and it's another to completely gouge people. I saw a Bulgy Mak for $500 (normally I see these for $280). Another vendor had a PA-63 for $300 (you can get these from Centerfire for $99). AK 5 round mags were on average $20. Beat to hell Enfields were $250+. It makes me wonder if anything actually gets sold.

Many/most vendors at California gun shows who hail from out of state take Californians for ignorant fools, go figure.

They sell next to nothing. Their only reason for going is fun, not business.

The ratio of idiots with high-priced junk to people that actually want to sell is much better at the Reno show than at a California show.

Occasionally you still get a deal, but otherwise Cali gun shows are for ammo & jerky.

I've shot a couple of the 250rd boxes of 223 from the Ammo Dump and it has all gone bang without any problems.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I am not sure if the ammo I bought was from them or not. The guy that I bought it from looked like he was in the same booth. I did notice that some of the primers did not seat all the way and the pocket crimp might have kept the primer from seating correctly.

Along with the .30-06 armor piercing ammo that was mentioned earlier, I also noticed one vendor had something that looked like a Beretta CX4 Storm with an open magwell. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that carbine an SB23 no-no?

Also, I looked pretty hard to see any illegal PPT's going on in the parking lot, but didn't notice any. Must only happen at the Cow Palace show.

The CX4 can be made legal with detatchable mags by simply making a plug for the thumbhole and adding one of the 1/2 inch stock spacers that Barretta makes for it

That's my home based FFL guy. That was a 22 LR rifle, for the life of me, I can't remember the name. I think he's selling it for $400-$500 each.

I saw lots of interesting muzzle-loading stuff. Even though I wasn't really into it, there was an Italian replica New Army revolver with a polished brass frame that looked good to me for $120.

I ended up getting an *old* Savage 340 for $100. With some cheap bulk 30-30 ammo, it should provide hours of fun. Next time, I will try to get the ammo when I am ready to leave, so I don't have to carry it around to long.

                              B.B.
