    Took my boys shooting

Took my 2 boys shooting just before Thanksgiving. Just now getting around to posting pics. Some say I procrastinate. I think they're wrong, but I'll have to get to that later.

They got two, they can spare one.

That aside, I would guess they had a great time. I remember having great fun when my dad would take me shooting.

While I agree to get kids around guns and show them to respect the early, teach them safety while theyre young. get some glasses on those boys!

Not sure if you're serious....with that said, when I was my oldest boys age (10) I was shooting my dads super Red Hawk in 44 mag, my boy can handle a little 45acp. The other is 7, he's shooting my Ruger single six, 22 lr. It was the first one I shot, (when I was 6), it was the first that my 10 year old shot, (when he was 7) and it will be the first that my 4 year old daughter will shoot.

Y'all didn't recognize the "safety squint?" Seriously though, Ear muffs and adult sized eye protection on a 7 year old just don't work. The frame pushes the muffs away and the plugs are too big for my little guys ears. Any suggestions? I'll concede that the 10 year old should be wearing glasses.

The horror! You're teaching them to be killers!

J/K. Good on ya for doing some father-son bonding. Have to agree that safety glasses should be worn, particularly when shooting revolvers that often spit particles through the gap, no matter how well-timed they are.

Well your 10yo looks (from the pic) like he's just barely hanging on that glock. his hands appear to be pretty low on the grip like it's just about to fly out of his hands. Maybe it's just the pic. The Ruger .22 is fine (but can he really hold it up long enough to fire all 6 rnds without having to put it down?) Those Rugers are pretty heavy for their size and caliber.

I think it's cool that you took them shooting. Looks like that range could use a cleanup, though.

The kids looks like they had a blast. Kudos to starting them out young. I'm positive you went trough safety with the kids so no comments needed there. That being said. It definitely looks like they are enjoying it and I see no issues with them shooting. Glasses is a must, however when I first shot, I had no glasses either.

Guys... many of us started shooting with our pops at a young age. Many started with just that and sometimes spontaneous. Safety should be number 1 rule. But it isn't always.

start em young, that's what I say.

Awesome pics and I think its great that you are passing this on to them. As for the negative posts about safety, What a crock! I first went shooting when I was 5, Yep no Safety Glasses. I am sure Billy the kid, Wild Bill, John Wayne did not wear them either. OH the horror! What do they keep you safe from? Yeah richochets! LOL

The slide on the Glock had just locked back, he had rotated his wrist a touch to verify. The only thing my youngest couldn't do was "safely" cock the hammer himself, so I reached over and did it for him.

I'm always quizzing them on firearms safety, just like my parents did with me.

Great you took the kids out for the shooting experience.
I think you have been beaten up enough for the the safety infractions, but I agree, it's hard to find muffs and glasses that provide a proper fit. Maybe the market is ripe to start offering some by one of the vendors.
