Tragic. Reports indicate he was either shooting along the truck's side or over the top and the girl popped her head out the window just as he fired.

So very very sad.
Still, why is ANYBODY in front of you when you're lining up a target? I thought it was some kind of range rule that no one should be in the 180-degree arc in front of you. They should always be safely behind you."Two dead?!? HOW?!?"
[sigh] "Bullets, mortar fire, heavy artillery salvos, terminal syphilis, bad luck --- the usual things, Captain."Comment

Exactly. It doesnt take much brains to know better. He should have been far away from the kids lighting off a round like that. Hopefully the other kids had ear protection.Comment

Absolutely tragic and so preventable. I hate gun restrictions and gun laws as much as anyone else on this site. I support overturning NFA and any and all AW restrictions. I also support the idea of gun education. Apparently a lifetime spent around guns isn't enough to keep people safe. If this means we have to suck it up and spend a little time reviewing safety rules and demonstrating them at the range, I think I'd be willing to do that if it meant everyone else did too. No restrictions on guns, just learn and demonstrate the safety rules.Originally posted by Daytripper63"Looking a bit angry, he asked why I thought it was a Republican truck. That is horrible. As far as awareness 180 degrees is pretty good. We basically had a 360 degree sphere of awareness but we were looking for trouble everywhere. But we all know kids are seldom standing or sitting still for long. This is a horrible situation and I am sure nothing we can say will begin to touch what this grandfather is going through at this time. R.I.P.sigpicComment

Ture - Sad
Those of us who handle firearms regularly have a greater exposure to the potential for mishap or accidents. We need to be ever mindful of safety and constantly review and renew are commitment to safety and never become complacent in shooting and weapons handling.Absolutely tragic and so preventable. It makes me sick to think of what the man and his family are going through. I don't know how I would live with it.Last edited by psango; 05-29-2011, 11:53 PM.Always remember to pillage before you burn.Comment
