    Ventura Gun show

Greetings all! I am new to the gun-owning world and, as such, have never been to a gun show *gasp* A gun show is coming to Ventura next month and I did want to check it out but wanted to get some opinions of gun shows in general and, more specifically, the Ventura gun show for those of you who have gone. It seems from what I've read on this site that gun shows in general are not what they used to be: there are a few deals out there but overall maybe not worth the price of admission. For those of you who have been to Ventura, is this the case? It seems like I should go just so I can make my own opinions, but your advice would be great. Thanks!

You should go and check it out for yourself. You'll find good deals on ammo and lots of expensive guns along with occasional treasure, if you know what to look for. The beef jerky is great too.

I go to eat strange animal jerky...where else can you buy kangarooo jerky or Red Stag jerky.

The ammo table will be a mass of crazed lunatics, much like the mosh pit at a heavy metal concert.

The vendor tables will display collector items and firearms. Its a way to see all the area vendors under one roof. Is it cheaper..No. Is it more expensive, Yes it CAN BE. It depends what table you are at and what you are looking at.

I can spend 4 weeks searching the net for an X, then pay $40 after finding it. It may or may not be what it was presented as on-line and I may pay twice (or more) trying to get the one I want.
      OR
I can find it at a vendor table at the gun show for $80, handle it, inspect it and pay then walk away with it.

Whether gun shows are "not what they used to be" or not, since you've never been to a gun show, what does that matter?
Ventura Gun Show is good to go, lots of vendors, ammo etc.
Three buildings worth if you are familiar with the fairgrounds, but the third building is kinda lame.
        See you there!

The Ventura show certainly no Pomona show of old, but worth going to. Lots of parts, ammo, and generally over priced guns. There are some gems to be found if you know your stuff and prices. My G/F walked out last month with a 03-A3 and a HUGE smile on her face. Go you'll have fun.

Its one of the smallest show, hit or miss on finding what you want. Good thing is Miwall is there for ammo sales.

the big question: is it really kangaroo? haha.

i'm planning on making my way to the next ventura show. a buddy of mine came up on a nice cashncarry rifle at the last ventura show! hoping to bump into some nice handguns!

how cheap is miwall's ammo prices? Say 1000 rds of 9mm?

                  WELCOME TO CALGUNS!

You may already know, but C&R handguns are not C&C in CA.
Only C&R Longuns from pvt party-to-pvt party are C&C.
If an 01 dealer is selling a C&R Long gun, expect a DROS and a 10 day.

Depending on brand name and projectile gr. weight; 115 or 124 or 147,
9mm will run you about $200-220 per 1000. Sometimes Miwall has deals on PMC 9mm.

thanks! yes i am aware of the c&c requirements and that they only work for long rifles 50+ years old.

that's a great price for 9mm. i'm definitely gonna stock up.

If you've never been to a gun show then by all means go!

The last show in Ventura was the best show there in a long time.

The past several years things seemed to go steadily downhill (IMHO).

No matter, I think it will still be worth it for you.

Thanks..... I had to work that weekend and wasn't able to go.

To the OP, it's worth checking out, go on their website and print out a coupon and it's $8 to get in. You can more than make up the $8 in ammo purchases, even if you don't walk out with anything but ammo it's still fun to walk around and check out what's there.

The recent addition of "Crossroads of the West" gun shows at Ventura are far better than The "McMann Roadrunner" shows that were the only game in town up until now.

So there are two different promoters doing shows there now? Nice.
