I am thinking about a 9mm. Ugly? Who cares?

I turned in my "vanity card" back when I was 23, which was 25 years ago.

Yeah you need to watch it around here in regards to your "man" card. Usually it's the insecure that scream the loudest about that.

Who cares what people here think? get what you want and shoot it. Last I saw Hi Point has a lifetime guarantee so what's not to like?

They also make some carbines that get great reviews in the various gun tests out there.

The first rule of the Man Card is that a man never questions whether he deserves to keep his man card.

Do a quick search on hi point and you will find that every person who owns one will say a couple of things. They are Bulky, Ugly, Cheap and DAMN they shoot a lot better then expected. I would buy one as a utility gun or if you just can't afford anything else. I came very close to buying the .380 and then I held one. I hated it, just didn't work for me. So I bought a Bersa and I love it. It's an incredible little gun. It was also $300, not quite the same price range.

I also own a Mosin 54r, a Marlin 22lr, a Mossberg 12ga, a Saiga .223 and a Rock Island 1911 in .45. As you can see I'm totally down with the whole budget shooting motif. I've got six solid shooters for less then the price of one high end .45

So if the HI points work for you great! I totally understand. lets face it, it is a huge price jump to the next cheap gun, the S&W Sigma at pretty much twice the price and it has the crappiest trigger known to science.

Next is the Ruger and then the Taurus. Personally I wanted the Bersa Thunder 9 but alas it's not on The List.

Either way, good luck, have fun and choose your own path.

The 995 carbines actually don't look bad, and the price is certainly right, only downside I see is having to buy separate mags vs. the kel-tec carbines.
