    Featureless Ma-Ten at Lytle creek.

So I took out the newly built Ma-Ten to lytle creek. I got hassled by the RO for not having a BB. I explained it was featureless we argued a little bit then I showed him the CalGuns flow chart. He then radioed another RO and he told him that if it had a monsterman grip its legal. I have no issue with the ROs there as I get along with them well.

We chatted after and he told me what i already knew. That the forest service cop is the one causing all the problems because "they caught some guys in the trails with a full auto ak-47 and grenades". Then the guys with the AK turned into the range so that's why the cop always bothers them.

The RO then told me people have been arrested there for illegal assault weapons a few times. I saw the cop at the gas station near the freeway and didn't bother talking to him. My question is has any other calgunner with a featureless rifle had a run in with this cop? The RO really made him out to be a "are you trying to tell me the law" kinda cops. How much trouble will explaining featureless to this cop be if he decides to hassle me?

Oh BTW put about 80 rounds down range, got it sighted in and was hitting my 6" steel plate out at the 200 yd range. I had no malfunctions until I switched to 175 grain match. That stuff kept double feeding and having fail to eject. I switched back to the 147 and it ran perfect. I would have gotten pics of groupings except I totally forgot to bring a paper target Next time.

It was probably the management that called it in.

Yes. Every so often they will come in and look around.

Must be lots of 'crime' at the range.

No, the reason they patrol the range is because they own the land that it is on. And they followed two guys with a fully auto AK from the hills behind the range into the range then arrested them. At least that's the story I get from the RO. The ROs are all pretty helpful and professional but it seems like they are being bullied by the cops.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff was there Saturday and checked out my bullet button. As we left the range he followed us all the way back to I15. At least he knew the flow chart rules.

Our targets were taking hits from shooters 2 or 3 lanes over on either side of us. Is this supposed to be funny there? We didn't think so. Probably won't go back.

was he following you, or were you both just going in the same direction?

did you ask them to stop or tell the RO that people are shooting other peoples targets?

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I remember Lyte Creek BEFORE there was an "official" range there...

Man that place was stupid crazy back then!

Went there once in the late 70's with a relative (I was around 10 or so. Perhaps even younger). And then again around 1990 (and it was still a scary place to be)...

Never went back (at least until the range was built)...

same here never been there since there was a "range" used to be lots of cars with bullet holes as targets and f/a fire going on back in the 70 early 80's ....

                              he " followed you " to the I 15 ???

is that not the only way to get to the 15 from the range ?

I know going there is 15N , exit Sierra ( N) go to the end . Leaving would be the same unless he lived in Scotland or Lytle Creek .

is that not the only paved , easy way out of there ?

From what most people post , the Forrest / sheriffs that go up there are good/ better informed , than most LEO's on the flow chart .

If your gun is legal , no big whoop . What is there to worry about ?

the range operates on a lease from the county . They have no choice but " let " the owners check out their property , making sure it used as it's supposed to be .

but again there are MANY places to shoot . Go somewhere else . posting here does not do much as you will get some feedback but I doubt the people posting here are from the range , let alone the County that leases the property .
