    HK's reputation

I was thinking about getting a HK pistol and rifle but it seems like everywhere I look on Calguns, no one seems to like HK. Why is that?

What are you referring to? HK makes great stuff -

Which pistol are you looking at?

As for rifles - The only one that I can think of is the SL-8 - Most of the rifles are banned way back by name -

HK makes great pistols. Not sure who was saying otherwise. The only negative feedback I've heard about them is their pricing.

I think it's the whole "HK hates you" thing that I haven't fully understood. I have a USP 9 and I love the thing. Its only jammed once on a tweaked reload so I won't say that even really counts. My slide cycles like butter - I can rack the slide with my pinky and thumb. Mags always drop free in IDPA and you can run it like a 1911 (cocked and locked) or like a Sig (DA/SA). Some people hate the mag release but I like to be able to drop a mag with my index finger and not have to change my grip. It's the only gun where I haven't modified the trigger. It's bone stock and runs like a champ. Because it is so reliable, it's my bedside gun and I would trust my life to it.

My HK USP 45 is my Go-To gun.

I've had it for 14 years and its never jammed or malfunction when there wasn't a problem on my part or bad ammo.

And yes, its because you suck and HK hates you.

HK has always meant "quality at a price" to me; fair enough.

It's a running joke in the firearms community that HK doesn't care about it's civilian customer base. Also because their price points are so high, which garners hostility from those that can't afford it.

I love HK products. They're not as popular here because of their pricetag.

It's not that people don't like HK, I think it's a combination of the price point, and the reputation their customer service has.

Their prices may or may not be a bit inflated, and they consider their civilian sales a 'side business'.

HK is a fine brand, if you can deal with some of their eccentricities.

Their attitude towards their civilian customer base is substandard; they truly show a top priority to military and law enforcement, but not if you're an individual officer (refer to civilian customer service for that one). They make some top-tier pistols, but - and this is just my opinion - the triggers on their polymer pistols suck. Everything HK branded is a bit expensive, so some hate on the brand for that as well.

When purchased new one HK pistol can cost almost as much as two of other brands like glock or taurus. That said, I love my HK , handles great, no jams. Personally, I'd rather have one pistol that suits me well than two or even three that's doesn't fit me.

+1. i'd rather have a few great ones than lots of regrets.

Love my USP. Can't see why people would hate them.
