My budget arsenal, what next!

The 995ts has proven to be a great little firearm for me, it uses the same 9mm round as my sr9 and my wife's g19. As a matter of fact the main reason I got it was I owned a hipoint pistol at the time and they used the same magazine, they even come in 40&45. They are great out to 120 yards and you can hit a man size target out to 200 yards with some practice.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Well, in my book anyway,Ok, I have to ask, what is it about the sks that people love so much? I'm not trying to be a hater, I'm trying to understand.
I remember that the first time I saw one I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was at a gun show and I was 18. This was over 20 some years ago of course.
Now I have a mosin and it's good for distance. And I have my AK'ish Saiga. So what role does the sks fill?
--longer barrel than an AK, so theoretically better potential for accuracy and muzzle velocity. (Accuracy would probably be best served with tech sights or something, though). I am also partial to the milled construction
--no detached magazine to lose, also the 10 rd stripper clips load fairly quickly, and take up quite a bit less space than the AK magazines. And you can top it off 1 rd at a time in the middle of a fight, if you so choose.
--hinged bayonet heheheehThis business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.Comment

For a budget 9mm I hear the sig pro is nice, I shot it and liked the trigger, plus, its a Sig..Comment

yes... imo you sort of threw the baby out with the bath water.
so then stay true to your DA/SA idea and get a Sig Pro Series 9mm. you get champagne on a beer budget, you get your DA/SA, you get your 9mm and your HD handgun all rolled into one.Comment

Ok, here is the deal. 9mm in DA/SA I can find. Now in .45 to replace my RIA, that is another matter.
First off, remember that the RIA was $400, so suggesting that I replace it with a USP or some other $1k plus pistol is like me saying that I have a Hyundai budget and you telling me that I should save up an buy a BMW
All of the .45's that looked promising are off roster in CA.
That was the issue.Comment

The sks is extremely versatile. The bayonet is permanently attached so you can't lose it. And after you've run out of ammo and snapped off your bayonet in some zombie it will make a great club. So there you go, projectile weapon, stabbing/ slashing weapon, and blunt weapon all in one.EW

You need a 22LR pistol. It will be used as a trainer, and to put things out of their misery before you eat them. I'd normally recommend a revolver but they seem to be pricey and since budget is a topic of discussion I'd suggest either a Kimber 22 kit for your RIA or a GSG 1911 CA model which should be about $350/400?
Since you said you'd be doing a scout conversion on the Mosin I assume it would be no big deal to drop in and out a Kimber kit in the RIA....they are less then $300 and don't require DROS fees. That makes your RIA a legit 45 and 22 training piece all in one.Comment
