    Rifle Rods & Handgun Hangers?

Anyone use those "rifle rods" that you use to free up space in your gun safe? Velcro topped dowels that fit down the barrel? Are they cheezy or for real? The concept seems reasonable, but the velcro concept seems kind of cheezy as it then makes a nice rip noise every time you grab a rifle and if you don't have fabric, you have to glue it in place I suppose. But I guess it is a logical attachment method. I wonder of there is a magnet topped version?

I also like the idea of the handgun hangers to free up shelf space in the safe.

    Any thoughts?

Anyone seen a vendor here on CGNs or a place online that sells them cheaper than GSS as they seem petty pricey for what they are?

I was running out of space in the safe so I made my own hanger rack to fit a shelf.

I don't know anything about the rifle rods though.

Nice work, Willy; why not crank out a few more & sell them here?

yeah, I saw they had them on Google. Getting them is not so much an issue as you can buy them direct actually at a bit better pricing, but (1) how well do they work and their quality (2) is there another brand people have used or (3) are they just korny and one of those things you see on late night TV and are like "hey, that is a great idea" and then when you get it you find out they are junk.

Yes, they do work very well. Not cheesy. There's a couple threads about them from a while ago if you do a search.

The sets usually come with a piece of fabric that you staple or glue to the bottom of the shelf. The fabric is nice, doesn't pill/etc from the velcro.

I used search - which is notoriously inclusive here plus "rifle" and "rods" are pretty generic - and did not see anything.

I have some of the handgun hangers. They work fine, but my problem is that there isn't a lot of room between the bottom of my top shelf and the rifles below, so I can't hang many handguns. If I try to hang the handguns in gaps between rifles, then I've got to remove the hangers when I want to move rifles out, or I'll knock them off.

The other thing is the hangers are designed for a 3/4" or 1" thick shelf. My top shelf busted (cheap press board), so I made one out of 1/2" wood. The hangers are very loose without some additional material added.

Try this in google: "rifle rods" site:calguns.net

I haven't used them myself but that brought up a couple threads about them.

I use them, there great. Frees up a lot of space. Which equals more guns!!

                        Trust me, it's worth it.

I use the rifle rods...Can actually get close to a safes "rifle count" but with all AK's. I suggest using a staple gun to attach the velcro to the bottom of the shelf if it's wood.
