Looking for private handgun training - Orange County

I'm looking for private handgun training for my wife and I. Just looking for accuracy training. Proper holds, sight pictures, trigger techniques, etc. Trainer should not be a gun-ho tacticool wannabe. Need someone who will keep the wife calm and work with her natural competitiveness (some might call it stubbornness :-)

I live near enough to Evans or OC Indoor Range to use those, but would be fine with an outdoor range such as Prado or Raahuges.

Money is tight, but I want someone who is a professional trainer.

    If interested, send me PM

I took some lessons at Evans, but forget the guys name. Give them a call. he worked there and may still work there.

Go to NRA website and look for classes by certified instructors near you; give one of 'em a call . . .

Covered 6 has a good beginners course and good testimonials, but they are in LA County. Might be worth the drive? www.covered6.com

whoever you pick, make sure if they see a stranger shooting improperly and say "I ought to show that guy how to shoot!" actually step up with the balls to show that person how to shoot.

I've seen one dude that appears at On Target always use that line. But I've never seen him actually do it.

If your willing to go to Rauhage's in Norco, Bill Murphy and his wife Cheryl own Firearms Training Associates and have an excellent range of classes with top notch instruction. www.ftatv.com

                    Mike at OC Indoor range.

Good basic instructor, charming, friendly, and pretty much certain not to rub your wife the wrong way during the lesson. (in... you know... a mental sense...)

Spend the money to get a private lesson for the two of you. It'll be about 3-4 hours, you'll each shoot 5 pistols, and it will give you a good solid understanding of at least how to come back and practice the basics before going on to more advanced classes.

I've written up my ongoing adventures as I learn to hunt.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

i took a class with Greg Block last year and it was pretty cool. Learned a lot and i feel the price was very reasonable. Was at an outdoor range which i liked because it was a nice day, and i would much rather shoot outdoors than in. i believe his website is firearmstraining.com. its a bit of a drive to the range though from OC

If you don't mind driving to Oceanside & covering the range fees I don't mind giving some free lessons. If you want an actual NRA certificate for completing a training course that won't be free as I'll have to order class/student materials.

Greg Block is local. He has been training law enforcement for *years*. He is also at Evans fairly often, and has women instructors.

Develop your skills with handguns, rifles and shotguns, from basic to advanced in Southern California. Highly credentialed instructor Greg Block emphasizes civilian self-defense situations. Be Safe, Be Confident, Get Trained!

On occasion he will let civilians he knows use his PRIsm trailer and teach tactics.

Bear in mind, Greg has been involved in helping people get their CCW in Orange County for a while - ignore the noise. Greg's a more than above average instructor for stated purposes.
