After about 3 or 4 of those they'll be asking you when the next time you're going out. If they don't, they're not that interested in going out shooting/plinking/competing and you don't have to worry about inviting them.
    when hell you inviting me?

to op: if you invite people to shoot and they decline dont get hung up on it. not everyone is in guns.

I'd invite him daily, especially if you don't have to pay for ammo.

This. I'm always for trying to get my non owning friends to come down, get them in the experience and dispell the "evil" beliefs.
I am usually limited (because of the membership range I frequent) the number of guests I can bring so it doesn't happen often. If our schedules work out, great!, if not no worries.

I have declined offers before because the people inviting me are WAY better shooters (ego, I know...) with toys I don't own, and I feel guilt about using their ammo.

The immediate fun lasts about 2.5 seconds and costs ~$15.00. The permagrin lasts about 10-15 minutes.

              Is it worth it?

That's up to you. After a single mag dump of 5.56 on my brother in law's (legal, registered) M16 we put a .22 conversion in it and worked it until it was too dirty to function. Just as much fun, and when you toss a (legal, registered) suppressor into the mix ... wow. There's so much badass there that I can't even describe all of it. And a lot cheaper than 5.56.

I would only invite someone to do something once.

And respect their decision either way.

I've had the same issue with boating/wakeboarding. I stop asking and wait until they start asking me,and offer gas money.

The problem is that the response is usually something like, "Dude, I can't, I've got to do X,Y, or Z. Maybe next time." When I see them later, they'll bring it up and say they're bummed that they missed it and that they want to go. This last time all I did was sent a text to a couple people that said "I'm taking my kids shooting, any takers? If they go then great, if not, no skin off my nose, I'm teaching my boys to shoot regardless.

Yep, I'll tell 'em when I'm leaving (if they want a ride) and where I'll be if they want to meet me there from now on. Guess I got a little spoiled, my former shooting buddy would go EVERY TIME, at the drop of a hat he'd be ready. He moved to Reno so.....well, that makes the commute a bit long.

My wife has similar issues with a couple of her friends and her mother. I suggested she use the same method as 8voice8 gave. Don't plan on doing something based on other people attending. I say keep letting them when/where and don't take it personal. Worst case: you go shooting. Best case: you go shooting with a friend and his cool toys!

Amen. If they don't go...hey, more ammo for me.
