    When do YOU stop inviting?

I've invited a couple friends who always say they want to go shooting 3 times now, always an excuse, sometimes legit, sometimes B.S. They both have guns, in fact one guy has a couple rifles that he still hasn't fired and he's had them for about a year!! I've NEVER had to invite someone 3 times before so I'm a little stumped. I'm willing to cut them a little slack as they are both LEO, in fact, one is married to my cousin....he's SWAT=cool toys.
Just kinda curious as to how the rest of you handle such situations.

If his toys are that cool and he will let you play with them then I say keep inviting.

I have invited two non gun owners who kept asking to go shoot. I figured they're my friends, I hope I can get them into guns. I took them both to some BLM land thats about 75 minutes drive each way. One of my friend's wanted to leave after an hour and I wanted to bash his face with an ammo can for complaining the whole time. The other friend now has a very impressive collection.

If they own guns (especially ones they haven't even shot yet) I say it's not worth inviting them again, let them ask.

Very nice. I have shot neutered M16's and M4's. Would love to be able to shoot one on full auto.

If they keep coming up with reasons not to go, find other people to go with. They either
a: Have crappy schedules that keep getting in the way
b: Don't want to go to the range as often as you do
c: Don't want to go to the range with you

Applies to just about anything really, if it doesn't work out for them to match your own plans, quit bugging them and figure something else out.

i'd just leave an open invitation and not push the envelope.

Hopefully when I do get these guys out, I'll remember to get lots of pics and maybe some VDO.

Don't waste time inviting 'em. Just keep telling them (excitedly) about the last time ya went out to shoot with some friends or to a competition (hopefully you go out to shoot more than once a year) and they shoulda been there. After about 3 or 4 of those they'll be asking you when the next time you're going out. If they don't, they're not that interested in going out shooting/plinking/competing and you don't have to worry about inviting them.

                    Your non-LEO thats why.
                    Kidding,kinda.

I've had the same issue with boating/wakeboarding. I stop asking and wait until they start asking me,and offer gas money.

some people just aren't excited to goto a range and shoot. and if they are both LEO, they may look at it more like off work training than a relaxing day.

One works out of L.A., he's kinda hard to read at times, I've invited him 3 times over the past year, I'll be bragging about the fun I had as you suggested. (I'm not being like an stalker), the other guy is basically my cousin, he's SWAT, I know they do a ton of extensive training so I'll give him a pass.

don't take the declines on your invitations personally; folks get into their schedules and commitments... and usually have a laundry list of things they'd like to do, and a shorter list of things they get to do.

Sounds like you are making a sweet enough offer. It is one thing if they keep flaking and you have the toys it is another when it is their toys...
