Well, if a silver lining could be mined from this alleged criminal enterprise by local LEOs, it could possibly be this: Lombardi didn't let the drugs get to any California addicts:
The new complaint alleges that Lombardi, Wielsch and Butler devised a plan during a May 2009 meeting at a Pleasant Hill barbecue restaurant to make money from selling seized marijuana and other drugs.
According to the complaint, Lombardi turned to one of his confidential informants to help sell the drugs. He allegedly passed along half a pound of marijuana and 1,200 ecstasy pills last year to the informant, who lives in Arizona.
Investigators said Lombardi had the informant mail the profits from the drug sales to Lombardi's Discovery Bay home.x

Wow! What a rotten excuse of a LEO that guy was. Interesting to see the AW charge as the 'cherry on top' as others have put it.In Glock We Trust.

Not that unusual. I was assigned as bailiff on a sentencing of a multiple rape defendant. He received 25 to life for the primary term, lesser terms, concurrent, for the numerous lesser charges... and 45 days, consecutive, for his 14601 (driving on a suspended license).
Now, that's the cherry on top.I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

"Holder added that Lombardi had a relationship with Christopher Butler and Norman Wielsch, who are at the center of the CNET scandal."
Another example of when keeping company with a poor choice of friends will burn you every time.

"Peterson noted that his office is not dismissing any of the local charges. If federal prosecutors do not think a crime fits in their venue, the District Attorney's Office will continue to prosecute that charge."
I assume this is where they hit with him the bull**** "Assault weapons and SKS rifles" charge...
"Any identical charges will be dismissed locally after resolution in federal court. The federal investigation could result in new charges or arrests, Peterson said, and Contra Costa investigators will provide support."
These guys are gonna get ****ed coming and going....Comment

And based on that statement, I'd guess Mr. Cardoza knows it goes deeper. The feds "think (the scandal) goes deeper," said Michael Cardoza, attorney for Norman Wielsch, former head of a state-county drug enforcement team who is accused of stealing drugs. "They're going to want to clean house on what they think is there. The dirty DUIs is a small part of this."
I'd wager rectums are slamming shut all over CoCo right about now.

Its a failure to think that both overweight and past indiscretions = poor job performance.
I have known plenty of skinny and / or squeaky clean guys who turned into complete criminals after age 30, or after they were given power over other people.
Don't even try to pass off recent reporting of bad LEO as a "new" thing. Our freaking COUNTRY was founded by people trying to get away from a corrupt system of "honest" people.
Adolescent behavior is NOT indicative of a persons adult character. That is why the standards have been changed. They were not LOWERED. It was determined the guys who "passed" the tests were just as likely to be outright criminal scumbags as the guys who were turned down. If anyone thinks otherwise, you need to open your eyes and smell the real world.Comment

I dont know how true it is, but it has been said many times that there is a "fine line between cop and criminal" psychologically speaking. Maybe you have to be able to think like a criminal to catch em?
Out of all the LE I have known, including my father, the majority seemed to have gotten into a bit of trouble prior to their LE career and changed their ways. Or as this case shows, some didnt...Any Questions about Front Sight memberships or specific information about attending, Feel Free to send me a PM!Comment
