I've seen a few people at the ranges carry their ammo and firearm in backpacks where is a good place to shop for one of these?

Not quite sure what you mean. You can fit a handgun and ammo in just about any backpack.

Maybe check out some Maxpedition at www.lapolicegear.com Some of them have spots for handguns if I remember correctly.

I use the 5.11 Bailout Bag.

Spacious, can carry a couple to few pistols and spare mags + cleaning supplies, etc.

Here's a cheap "tactical" style backpack.

          $29.99 http://www.lapolicegear.com/diplomat...backpack1.html
Great for a cheap range backpack.

If you need something heavy duty I recommend Eagle Industries products
Eagle Industries is proud to be the go-to gear for top-tier military units, and every one of our products is made 100% in the USA, so you can be confident with the quality and caliber of the products you receive.

Obviously they're not cheap but they're also not extremely expensive for quality kit.

While we're here arguing about the latest high tech running shoes, there's some Kenyan out there running barefoot. Guess who's gonna win the marathon?

I just use a black Jansport backpack from Big5. Padlock the two zippers together and it keeps a low profile on my way to the range.

It also depends on what you'd like to carry in it. Like I wanted to carry all of my AR-15, accessories, and ammo. So I measures the length of the upper and found a hiking backpack that would fit the rifle disassembled. For my Rem 700 I use a rifle scabbard that's attached with MOLLE straps to one of my "tactical" backpacks.

My range bag is a camera backpack with adjustable padded inserts. You can change up the inserts to make different compartments for ammo, earpro etc. I got it on the cheap from ebay.

                            Low profile...

Since I am the gun bearer for the family, I had to split up the bags. I use a "Sierra Club" bag for some of the guns for stealth. But, my range bag holds the magazines.
