Take your cable lock. Put it through the hole and wrap it around and walla. Your good to go. That's how I transport my XD.

if you have a valid hunting license you can carry concealed while hunting in a designated hunting area.

when in the car just make sure handguns are in a locked case and longguns are unloaded action open (obvious reasons) with ammo stored separately.

I know its money and might not necessarily be what you are looking for but it's an idea. I always thought if you were going to travel long distances in a truck or SUV, it would be useful to have one of these:

Just something to think about. It's a got a locking push button latch, is made out of 16 ga steel, and replaces your center console. I'm pretty sure it would be legal to carry a handgun in there. Not to mention someone would have to pretty much steal the car to get at something in there, so its nice to keep other things in as well.

as i understand it, your center console and glove box (even if they have a lock) do NOT count as a locked container. so if you want to keep a gun in there you would have to lock it in a container and then put it in there....can someone verify this?

What you said is correct but what that link shows is a locked case that goes inside of the center console so he is also correct.

BTW - Mariposa and Yosemite are two different worlds. Mariposa is relatively gun friendly with good ole fashion country folk and creative spirited people. Yosemite is a national park filled with gun fearing foreigners and tree huggers. You can shoot your gun in Mariposa, you can't in Yosemite!

I'd simply go Locked Unloaded Concealed Carry (LUCC) in any sort of lackable container.
