Paranoid? Perhaps. I just don't think that advertising criminal intent is the wisest course, even if they laws are inane.
Not paranoid, probably wouldn't buy them as my uncle is getting a g17 to compete with and i'll borrow his mags.

Whats the difference btwn asking a question and people taking pictures of their hicap mags specially the 33rd mags and showing it off here.

      No problem

You can buy those mags and it is not against the law.

Take a punch with you to take them apart and put them in baggies.

As rebuild kits you can bring them back to Kalifornistan.

      No worries.

I do NOT know if the Nevada (esp Reno) Cabela's, Scheel's or Sportsmen's Warehouse stores cooperate with NV LE working in combination with Calif DOJ BoF (or even BoF directly).

And just because I say I don't know, doesn't mean it's not happening -- anyone saying these entities do not cooperate has absolutely ZERO frggin' basis for making that statement. DOJ "interaction" with individuals involving hicap mags and Cabela's has occurred due to other factors, so these stores are certainly "on the radar".

I *DO* know video surveillance & other strategies are used at the Big Reno Show (and perhaps the other Reno gun shows) by LE - either CA DOJ or cooperative work with local LE. That may be sporadic but it may not.

[FYI, LAPD Gun unit members may go to LV/AZ gun shows... at least some members are co-sworn as US Marshals, letting them work on their own without having local LE tagalongs.]

It is NOT illegal for you to buy hicap mags in NV, as long as those mags do not enter California assembled.

Do EXPECT that drama may occur if there is enough unclarity in your actions over there such that you might be pulled over crossing the CA border (likely Truckee area).

And don't have other drama with your vehicle, its occupants or other contents - or even within your home, since "one thing leads to another"!!!

There have been several "incidents" with hicap mags coming from Reno into CA and those people are now sorry they're stupid.

Remember that Jerry Brown is no longer AG, and Kamala Harris has a structurally deficient DOJ BoF budget system that is not really trackable by activity - she can misderect DROS money, Vol Reg fees and even Armed Prohibted Possessor Program monies to fund crap like this if she thinks it can get her good PR.

sure but the fools on here talking about it aren't doing that most of the time, so play your games if you like, but don't say you weren't warned. And keep advertising it on here, because DOJ and LEO don't ever read this, nope, never.

Personally I run into people at the range who have just bought and are using high caps, and did not rebuild them.... and they admit to this... good thing I'm not a LEO, but they are so dumb and have such a big running mouth its only a matter of time. If you're gonna be stupid, don't advertise it... "Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent" (proverbs 17:28)

As for purchasing the mag kits why not spend your money with one of the site sponsors and support them.

No laws were broken if the person owned the 33-round mag before the ban, or the pics were taken out of state where the mag is located.

My concern is that a person specifically stated that they intended to do something illegal (buy mags in NV to have in CA in case SHTF). Note that I'm not judging that person in any way for wanting the mags. I'm just saying that advertising the fact has potential negative consequences. Those negative consequences might be highly unlikely, but they will be extreme if they do occur.

I'm just suggesting that people make things more of a "what if" rather than "this is what I plan to do."

No they dont but they do ask what area code you are in. And that is for tax charges on the items.

There's places in Clark County, NV and Phoenix, AZ that check for ID and won't sell large capacity magazines to CA residents.

California law doesn't apply in other states. When you enter another state you must abide by their laws. (i.e. you wouldn't drive on the wrong side of the road in England and then expect a constable to say, "its ok, you are under California Law."

If you are competing in Nevada, you can use standard capacity magazines (a.k.a. high-capacity in California).

As someone mentioned earlier, you must disassemble them before bringing them back into California. Or you could sell them to someone else in a free-state. Or store them at a friends or relatives house in a free-state.

                    Have a safe trip.
