buying a mags at cabella's?

I'm going to be up in reno in a few weeks and am planning on stopping at Cabella's. I'd like to pick up a couple Mag's for my G17 to have for competition out of state

Do they check to see whether or not your a California Resident or anything like that? I don't want to go up to the register and look like an idiot being told i can't buy it lol.

I wouldn't worry about it. Cabela's doesn't care where the money comes from. The reason they built it in Boomtown is because they wanted to be as close to California without having to deal with California business laws but still get California's dollars.

But to answer your question, remember a simple adage when buying things out of state: Credit makes you a citizen of California. Cash makes you a citizen of the United States. Pay cash and they have no reason to ask for an ID.

They're mags. They don't check ID for mags.

I wouldnt pay with a credit card just to make sure they dont check to see your id and see you're a cali resident. Even though chances are they wont even care.

But to answer your question, remember a simple adage when buying things out of state: Credit makes you a citizen of California. Cash makes you a citizen of the United States. Pay cash and they have no reason to ask for an ID.

It is not a felony to purchase/posses/use "high capacity" magazines

It is a felony to IMPORT them, but that can be simply avoided by disassembling them and bringing them back into the state as rebuild kits

Have you gone to Scheels yet, that place is amazing, you must check it out, sounds like you will be fine buying "magazine parts" at Cabellas or anywhere....to all the nervous nellys, I'm going to assume by the classified section of Calguns that there are many parts kits coming into this state every day....no different here....that said, I don't see much reason for them, I have a good dozen ten rounders and you can load them ahead of time...if the SHTf I've got mags ready to go meanwhile my extreme tactical friends are getting out their parts kits and building....buy at least one ten rounder each month....if you are really concerned with SHTF IMO it would be better to have a can of mags ready to go, and cycle them at the range when practicing.

If you are not proficient in mag changes then 15 rounds can make a big difference over 10 rounds in some situations. Plus soon the hi-cap mag ban will be gone and im sure there will be lots of people buying hi-caps. That means prices go up and supply goes down, so some people want to be prepared for that
